The 2022 Summer Reading Guide is coming!

It’s that time of year: the 2022 Summer Reading Guide is almost here! The ELEVENTH annual Summer Reading Guide is coming your way on Monday, May 23.

To longtime readers, this year’s guide will feel familiar, and a little bit different. To put it another way: everything old is new again. In keeping with our 2022 theme—and to return to the roots of the Summer Reading Guide—this year’s edition will feature plenty of new releases I read and adored, plus favorite selections from years gone by that both stand the test of time and now offer enticingly short library hold lists.

I can’t wait to put this year’s guide in your hands. It’s beautiful to look at, easy to reference, and filled with great content. As usual, we’re formatting the guide as a PDF in the style of an e-magazine, and we’re sharing it with readers by email.

Release day is right around the corner and I don’t want you to miss out. To get the guide when we release it on May 23, sign up below. We’ll also send you book lists and my newsletter with stories and content only for subscribers.

UPDATE: Get your guide here!

For more—and early!—Summer Reading Guide goodness, I want to make sure you know about the best book party on the interwebs. We host an “Unboxing” event for our Modern Mrs Darcy Book Club members and What Should I Read Next Patreon community members and we look forward to it every year.

In a ninety-minute live session, I reveal every title in the guide, and tell readers why I chose it. Our conversation is casual and unscripted, filled with real talk about great books, in the presence of people who love books and reading.

Unboxing is a DELIGHT. We do it twice so more readers can attend live: at 1 and 8 pm Eastern time on Thursday, May 19. Our members get the guide in their inboxes just after the Unboxing—which means they get it four days early.

Our members also get an expanded guide with exclusive content, including additional titles, extra book lists, and more fun bonus content. If you’ve ever considered becoming a member, now is an excellent time to jump in.

I can’t wait to share the guide with you and to hear what you’re adding to your TBR. I’m so looking forward to the summer reading season to come, and I hope you are, too.

Happy reading, friends!

Anne

P.S. If you think you’re signed up for our email list, but for some reason you’ve stopped getting our emails, would you let us know so we can fix it before May 23? If you want the guide, we want you to get it. Please email [email protected] with the subject line “lost emails” and let us know the last email you got from us. (If you’re not sure, search your email for “from: modernmrsdarcy” and see what’s there.)

Oooooohhhh I am excited! Every year I have found new favorite books and/or authors from the Summer Reading Guide. Thank you Anne and team for your hard work to put this together.

Yay! I just finished an audiobook that you recommended in last summer’s guide. Really good! Can’t wait for more readerly advice. Thanks, Anne & team!

I love the summer reading guide – have discovered so many good books over the years (including the Hate U Give, still in my top ten). Could I ask you do an HTML version of the list too? PDF is impossible on a phone, all the sideways scrolling and enlarging. Much better to have a format that automatically resizes for a phone screen.
