a lifestyle blog for book lovers

Almost every summer, we do a little reader survey to take the temperature of the blog. I always love reading your responses—and since we skipped this annual tradition last year—we’re overdue for a quick check-in.

The questions are different each year. We have a few straight-up demographic questions for you, and several questions about your reading habits.

If I’ve learned anything in my conversations with avid readers, it’s this: you are never the only one. You aren’t the only one who reads for pure escapism, who feels overwhelmed by their TBR list, or who loves books that bring on the tears.

Each year, fascinating patterns emerge from your answers, and we promise to share the most interesting takeaways soon.

The whole thing should take 5 minutes or less.

Click here to take the survey.

Thanks so much for your input, and for helping to make this little corner of the internet what it is. I appreciate it–and you!–so much.

Anne

P.S. Want to see the 2019 survey results? They’re right here.

I just wanted to let you know that you can only select 1 answer for what newsletters do you get, though I’m sure many of us get multiple.

  2. Jennifer says:

I filled out the survey but filled out I don’t listen to the podcasts. I don’t! But I do read the transcripts. Love the transcripts! I didn’t see an option for that choice.

Good point, I too often read the trascripts. Not only do I not listen to podcasts, I also don’t get my news from videos or TV. I. AM. READER.! haha

I’m interested in you researching and posting lists like Science Fiction books for Romance book Readers, Horror reads for cozy Mystery Readers. Basically introducing me to a new genre based on what I already like to read.

I’d love some feedback from you and the team about these surveys. What you learned about us …. what surprised you … how many surveys were returned, etc. Just fun stuff.

I do appreciate what you have done for my own personal reading life, I find that I read fewer books than I used to, but I am more “picky” about what I do read and it is in part because of books you have introduced me to. (Wow, that was a long sentence..) What I’m trying to say is Thank you for what you do for us readers! I even love how you introduce us to clothing, make-up and everything like that. You are a treasure!

I wanted to let you know that thanks to your survey I now have a new app to track my reading! I had never heard of StoryGraph before, but once I was able to transfer my goodreads list, oh my! After seeing all those different graphs, I think I actually stopped breathing for a second because I was so happy!! So thank you for introducing that to me. <3

I use a hybrid approach to track/plan my reading. I use a spreadsheet to track what I’ve read, and the BookBuddy app to plan my reading. The app gives me an easy way to quickly find books that I want to read next from my ever-expanding library.
