a lifestyle blog for book lovers

Happy weekend, readers! It’s a fun one around here: I’m stacking up my priority reads because it’s almost time for …

Readers’ Weekend

It’s finally here! We’ll kick things off tonight at 6:00 pm EDT, and conclude on Sunday, July 25 at the same time. That’s forty-eight hours to read to your heart’s content. Our goal with this special weekend is to help you make the time and space to dedicate an entire weekend to your reading life. Everyone’s welcome! More info here. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram at @annebogel.

MMD Book Club members received a special Readers’ Weekend kit and are invited to these exclusive events:

Don’t miss these posts:

On One Great Book:

Don’t miss today’s brand-new episode of One Great Book, now back for Volume 5! Each week I pull one standout selection off my personal bookshelves and tell you all about it, in ten minutes or less.

On What Should I Read Next:

You were all so enthusiastic about our last team episode, we decided to do another one! The What Should I Read Next and Modern Mrs Darcy team is bursting with bookish enthusiasm at all times and today you get to be a fly on the wall for our conversations. WSIRN producer Brenna paired us up in our virtual recording studio and we had the best time discussing what summer reading means to us, what we’ve read and loved lately, and what we hope to read next before the season is over. There’s a mix of everything from complicated family sagas to reliable romance to page-turning nonfiction to sci fi that feels like a warm hug.

Loved the article about Fiction Adaptations! I’m really looking forward to Three Pines based on the Louise Penny books, and Daisy Jones and the Six. I was surprised to see HBO is going to make a series of The Time Traveler’s Wife. I loved the book and thought the movie adaptation from several years ago was pretty good. Other planned TV adaptations that caught my eye included The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, Devil in the White City by Erik Larson, The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry, Girl Waits with Gun by Amy Stewart, and the Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee. Lots to look forward to!

If your local public library carries hoopla, you can access many Crafsty videos on hoopla. I just realized that this week.

Re the craftsy $2.49 deal…please be aware that its extremely difficult to cancel. There is no way to cancel online in your account, you must phone them. I was on hold for over an hour, and when the phone clicked over and started to ring, someone on their end grabbed the call and clicked me off. And that was only one of many attempts I made. They do send you an email with their contact info a few weeks before the renewal date, but if you don’t cancel, they will automatically bill for the $80 a year fee. Just be aware… Michelle t
