a lifestyle blog for book lovers

My new book Don’t Overthink It comes out on March 3, and I’m about to head out on book tour again to talk about it in person—with you.

I absolutely love connecting with readers through the blog and the podcast, and after nearly nine years of Modern Mrs Darcy and four years of What Should I Read Next, it has brought me (and I hope, you) great joy to meet many of you and tell you Happy reading! in person.

Every in-person event is different: these gatherings have their own formats and their own energy; the stores and venues all have their own personalities. I do know that at every one I’ll discuss not only the contents of Don’t Overthink It, but what the writing process was like, and how the process of writing the book changed the way I approach my own life. (Now I joke that my unfair advantage is that I’ve absorbed all the research required to write a book called Don’t Overthink It!) I hope to leave you feeling inspired and empowered to see aspects of your life with fresh eyes. And I expect us all to have tons of fun in the process.

My favorite part of every event is always the question-and-answer portion. Because the audience asks questions live, the Q&A is always completely unique, fresh, and unscripted. I love to hear what’s on your mind, what you’re wrestling with, what resonates, and what unexpected questions you toss my way (past topics include lipstick, Tieks, reading speed, and book club tips).

My last book tour for I’d Rather Be Reading was GREAT. This time I’m excited to return to stores I loved visiting on my last tour and visiting stores I didn’t get to visit last time. I’m even visiting several book shops that weren’t in business the last time I went on book tour!

Some of you have visited me right in the town where you live, some of you have hopped airplanes or road tripped hundreds of miles to attend one of my special events. Some of you have planned college roommate reunions and book club getaways around my events; thank you for that! Book people really are the best people, and I’ve loved getting to meet you—in person.

I’ve included a list of the cities I’ll be visiting within the first six weeks of launch below. Please note that some events will be ticketed. We’re constantly updating our events calendar with more details as we have them, and we have plenty of fun plans in the works for the remainder of 2020, so check back for updates.
