a lifestyle blog for book lovers

Join us in Book Club for our Summer of Experts

We’re kicking off our Summer of Experts in Book Club this Tuesday, and I can’t wait to embark on this new bookish adventure.

Book Club is the place where we’re learning to read better, together. We read a monthly selection plus host regular classes and educational content that helps us get more out of our reading lives. I’m so excited about what’s in store for the season to come—and today I’m showing you what that will look like this summer, in detail.

Our Summer of Experts

At the beginning of each season, I often share which books we’ll be reading together, But some of you might not realize that there is so much more that goes on in Book Club than the books we read. In addition to reading three great books together, we’re also lining up great educational content all summer long.

I’ve dubbed this our “season of experts,” because we’re talking to more than a half dozen people with all different kinds of bookish expertise. They’ll share tips, tricks, and behind-the-scenes takes on their corner of the reading world. This season we hope to indulge your readerly curiosity, build your bookish skill set, and teach you how to get more out of your reading life.

Last week, I had a conversation with a reader who loved being a part of our monthly live sessions, but she didn’t always want to read the book or talk about them. She wondered if she could come and be a part of the Book Club, even if she just wanted to take advantage of the bookish education going on.

The answer is YES!

If Modern Mrs. Darcy has been called a “lifestyle blog for nerds,” then the Book Club is our clubhouse.

I’m happy to share our calendar with you, with some future dates still TBD. It looks long, because it is: because so many readers LOVED the regular weekly rhythm of Book School this past winter, we’ve aimed to bring you regular weekly content for the summer season as well.

Happy summer, and happy reading!

Anne

P.S. – You can still get access to Book School and any of our author chats any time by becoming a part of the Modern Mrs. Darcy Book Club. We’re not offering these classes in our shop, but we record and send all of these videos out to Book Club members, so if you can’t make a live session, you have access to watch the experts and any of our educational content any time.

Best. Summer. Ever! I have enjoyed being in the Book Club from the beginning but the summer of experts truly takes it to a new level. There’s nothing else out there like it.

I have been considering joining for months now. This post nudged me over the line. Sound amazing!

    This. Is. Phenomenal.
Just when I thought our summer of reading couldn’t get any better, BOOM!
I’ve been anxiously awaiting the start of the expert classes & now I’m thrilled beyond words to see some familiar names in the lineup!!
I’m so jazzed Anne — thank you to the moon and back for all of the exceptional content you bring to us. It just keeps getting better all the time!💗

  4. Nancy Jones says:

I thoroughly enjoy your emails and appreciate the work that you do to bring your readers/listeners quality and comprehensive information about all things literary. I would love to join your MMD Book Club but only use PayPal. Could that please be an option?

  5. Sarah Christy says:

Loving the additions to my book club experience. Ann,you recently shared that the “average” reader reads 6 books a year. Blew me away can’t imagine only 6! Should have at least 2 or 3 going all the time!

  6. Debbie in Alabama says:

I as well have been considering joining Book Club, yet thought I got enough from my Patreon membership. Just looking around has made me so glad to jump in. I love the lists of our summer schedule!

  7. Gayla says:

I am so excited for all the upcoming book discussions, author events, and most especially “season of experts”. I have been a member of MMD since not too long after it began and it is the best $10 I spend every month. Way to go Anne for giving us everything we didn’t know we needed month after month.

  8. Suelizbeth says:

I have been a member since the beginning and had been a bit absent lately, but this post has me excited again for the summer. Thank you, Anne, for your creativity and for your love of books and all things bookish. You inspire me and have helped reignite my reading spark, I have been in a slump and am way behind in my Goodreads reading challenge, but lately, you and the book club, and Patreon, and your podcasts, have given me life. Wow. I hadn’t really realized I had all of these feelings.

  9. Karin says:

I would love to join, and have been thinking about it ever since I joined MMD, do you have many international members, it would probably be best if I could pay for more than just a month at a time, is this possible too??

  10. Gwyn Day says:

Yes!!!! I am going to fit this in to moving!!! I’m currently packing but I want to stay focused on my summer reading!!! Thank you! Question….is the live talk eastern time?
