What you need to know about the 2023 Summer Reading Guide, coming May 18

More about our SRG history, evolution, and what's changing for 2023

It’s that time of year: our TWELFTH annual guide is coming Thursday, May 18. I am so excited about this year’s guide: it’s going to be fifty books strong, chock-full of summer reading goodness, made with love and experience and responsibility and (sometimes) eyes that are tired from allll the reading. But this year marks a departure from previous years, and I want to update you on what is changing and walk you through the thought process behind those changes.

I’ve made this casual video so you can hear me talk about our history, our evolution, our options, and what’s changing for 2023. I hope you’ll watch so you can hear me share more about these updates in my own voice.

I love our Summer Reading Guide tradition, but just as the guide has evolved dramatically over the years, we need to make some changes to reflect the current landscape of our business and the reality of what it takes to make this guide. Good things take time and they’re costly to make, and only getting more so—costly in terms of attention, energy, resources, and cash.  What that means is that this year, for the first time, our guide is not free.

I talk about this in the video, and we’ll have all kinds of guide and unboxing info for you soon. For now, we’re sharing the headlines in writing below:

2023 Summer Reading Guide and Unboxing Party

The guide is coming on May 18 and is an included perk for our community members in the Modern Mrs Darcy Book Club and What Should I Read Next Patreon, along with Unboxing access. We will deliver the guide to all members and our a la carte readers the morning of May 18 (Eastern time), and will host two Unboxing Parties on May 18 at 1:00pm and 8:30pm Eastern time. We look forward to our “Unboxing” event every year: in a 90+ minute live session, I share every title in the guide and why I chose it. Our conversation is casual and unscripted, filled with real talk about great books, in the presence of people who love books and reading.

There are three ways to get the 2023 MMD Summer Reading Guide:

  1. Purchase the guide and Unboxing access a la carte.
  2. Support the What Should I Read Next Patreon.
  3. Join the Modern Mrs Darcy Book Club.

We hope you’ll choose the option that’s right for you. We frequently get questions about the difference between MMD Book Club and Patreon and we will share a THOROUGH explainer in the coming weeks answering those FAQs and sharing exactly what’s in store for summer in each community, along with specific information on how to place your a la carte preorder for the guide and Unboxing access.

If you’re not able or do not wish to join one of our member communities or purchase the guide separately, please know that we’ll keep with our longstanding tradition of sharing our Minimalist Summer Reading Guide on the blog, and I’ll share many summer reading titles here and on What Should I Read Next all summer long.

Thanks so much for your support over the years. I can’t wait to share our 2023 guide and to hear how it shapes your reading life this summer. I’m so looking forward to the reading season to come, and I hope you are, too.

Thanks for reading, and most of all, for allowing me to be a part of your summer reading.

Anne

Congratulations on the evolution of your business! I appreciate the SRG update and the evident thought that has gone into this decision to charge for access to the guide. As I do not belong to either of the two included communities, I await further details on pricing, to make a decision about whether or not to go for the a la carte option. Best wishes!

Hi Anne and all at the modern Mrs Darcy website! I have previously loved getting the summer reading guide as it was a simplistic joy every summer to guide my reading life. I am a bit disappointed to hear the news of it costing money now. I know the economy is worsening with no end in sight, however charging a fee for simply a summer reading list is a bit discouraging. I wished it weren’t so, but I get that everyone has decisions to make during this time. I miss simple times of blogging for fun and people just simply sharing what they love without the hope of financial gain.
All the best.. xx discouraged reader

      • Rita says:

I understand your feeling but Anne does run a business. She and her team put in lots of effort. The summer reading guide is what encouraged me to join the book club. Also, it’s not just a list of books. It’s a curated list divided by genre with blurbs and the mixing is so interesting.

        • Barbara says:

I agree—Anne is running a unique business, not an independent bookstore to which she is driving sales. There are plenty of reading suggestions from readers/reviewers on Goodreads for free, but why should anyone expect Anne and her staff to be free for this level of review and insight? This has nothing to do with these economic times. We need to value people’s time.

        • Mary Ann Garcia says:

I couldn’t agree more. Anne and the MMD team made a difficult but necessary decision. Count on my continued support!

    • Clarissa says:

I completely understand where you are coming from, but I also don’t think you can call the Summer Reading Guide “simply a summer reading list”. Anne and team put a lot of work into that list; it’s not just a list of books. Anne puts thoughtful descriptions of each book not just a copy and paste of the book jacket description.

      • Kim says:

Great point, Clarissa. It’s much more than a list of books, and it’s evident how much time and care goes into making it.

    • Kat says:

I ask this kindly — do you go to work everyday “simply sharing what you love without the hope of financial gain”? At this stage, this is not a fan blog (taking sponsorships and ads to keep going). This is Anne’s business employs a team full time and has a thoughtful, high quality content calendar with author chats.

If you miss the old blogging days on the internet (I do too!) I think you would love the MMD community. It’s actually the thing I love most about it, I always tell my husband it feels like “old internet”. A community of folks coming together to chat, spend time & share what they love. I think it would honestly be the perfect fit for you based on the tone of this comment.

      Wish you well! xoxo

    • Kate says:

As someone who also writes about books on the internet, I can assure you that the Summer Reading Guide takes a full-time job amount of hours, especially with the depth of coverage and the fact that Anne actually READS every single title on the list. I’m so proud of Anne and her team for acknowledging how much labor goes into this product. And it is just that – a product that was created, packaged and marketed. I hope you enjoy the free content on the blog going forward, and while you enjoy, please remember that this also is a lot of labor 🙂 Women are traditionally expected to give for free what men expect money for ….. I’m glad that trend is changing.

      • Paula R says:

I totally agree. I have been wondering for a long time now how Anne is able to provide all that she provides for her members. As a senior citizen with not much extra cash and having to continue working at age of 75, I will continue and gladly pay for the Summer Reading Guide as it is one of the most highly things I wait for all year. Keeps me up to date on what books I want to read and get from the library as soon as possible! Thank you, Anne so much for all that you do.

    • Allison says:

She doesn’t blog for fun…this is her company. She hires staff and owns a business, just like any brick & mortar. No need to complain -just move on and look for your free guides elsewhere.

  3. Laura says:

I have loved all of the guides. And, for what it’s worth, I thought last year’s was excellent- I actually appreciate the backlist even though I’ve been reading along with you for 10+ years. Happy to pay for it- just like I would be for any special magazine-so that it can help you to keep up the good work! They are a highlight for me. (And let us know who the plagiarizers are so we can report them!)

    • Melanie C says:

I agree about last year’s guide, Laura! I love a good backlist recommendation. I am a Patreon member but would happily pay for this guide if I weren’t.

      • JoEllen Burns Muntz says:

I agree with Laura and Melanie. The SRG is a great product/event/booklover support commitment. I am all in.

  4. Cherie Bozell says:

    Anne and Team,
Thank you for all the work you do to make a great experience for us as readers. What you take on is no small endeavor. The low price you are asking for such a bookish feast is a bargain. I’m excited to see what books are waiting for me!
    Many Thanks,
    Cherie

  5. Kara Hofmann says:

Thanks for the update. Seems very reasonable to me. I really enjoy your recommendations, podcast and posts. I like the option to participate along over the summer as that aligns with when I’ll have the opportunity and time to read and engage more than other times of the year. I’ll look for more details on how to sign up and pay for that option. Made my morning to start thinking about summer and especially summer reading!

  6. Candace Babcock says:

Long time reader + supporter here! I don’t belong to Patreon or the book club, but I frequently make purchases through your links and have bought several of your items as gifts. I look forward to the SRG every year and am happy to purchase it in order to support your work. Thank you for all you do!

  7. Tammy says:

This change seems completely fair, reasonable, and necessary. Happy to pay for such quality content. Thank you for all you do for this wonderful community. We are grateful.

    • Amanda Wright says:

I’m such a big fan on Anne and her team. This SRG has taken an obvious amount of work and I so appreciate Anne’s perspective and thought in what it a worthwhile read for the Summer. I value her so much I joined both MMD and Patreon just o be able to support her financially as much as possible.
In the same vein, if anyone wants to purchase the SRG but can’t financially pay for it this year, I would be so happy to pay for a couple a la carte guides to gift to anyone who needs it! Any way I can support Anne and the team I will!

  8. Elizabeth says:

Can someone please post how much the a la carte option will be? Not able to watch the video at the moment. Thanks!!

  9. Jessica says:

I look forward to this event every year. Worth every penny! Thanks for the time and effort you and your team put into making this a book-lovers dream.

  10. Lisa says:

I look forward to the Summer Reading Guide so much. I always set aside a particular morning or afternoon to really dive into it. I know that there are people who will be frustrated that it isn’t free, but it is so much more than a blog post or listicle, and you have provided so much free content over the years, that it makes total sense to me. I want MMD and the SRG to be around for years to come. If paying for it makes that happen, I’m all in.

  11. Kristy says:

I look forward to your Summer Reading Guide every year and as a MMD Book Club member, I encourage everyone to try it for the summer!

  12. Jen Lehmann says:

Not a member of your paid communities, but your reasons for charging for the Summer Reading Guide are very reasonable! I really enjoyed last year’s; I’m sorry to hear you got complaints about it! Will this year’s include the page to mark stars for your interest in a book? That was my favorite part, and SO helpful for this completionist!

  13. Jane Wilson says:

Thank you for your frank and clear explanation, Anne. It is reality that quality material cannot be free and I prefer to pay creators directly for their work so it can be sustained. The SRG is a highlight of my year — not the only reason I belong to Book Club, but a real perk. Looking forward to May 18!

  14. Allison says:

Thank you for continuing the Summer Reading Guide tradition! I’m a Patreon member, which I signed up for back before you had a la carte options for the reading guides and unboxings. I said before I joined, and will say again, that I would willingly pay what you are asking for a special edition magazine at the book store, and I think the quality of the content makes the two comparable. Thank you for offering the option to buy just the guides, along with the membership options. I’ll remain a Patreon member, but it is nice to know that there is another way to purchase the guides, if we so choose. I can’t wait for this year’s SRG!

  15. Marcy says:

Anne, Thank you for always providing a quality SRG. I look forward to it each year (along with the unboxing) with great anticipation and this year is no exception. I understand and support your decision to make it available at a cost. Your heart and soul goes into it and that is valuable. I’m a Patreon member, but even if I were not, I would gladly purchase the guide. Thank you for including it as a perk to your community.

  16. Carol says:

I just watched the video and totally understand. As a Patreon member, I will receive the SRG and tickets to the Unboxing at no additional cost.

For those who are in the fence, I just want to let you know that the SRG is so exciting and the print-out is so professionally done. I print it out and keep those in a separate binder for future reference. It really helps when I select my monthly BOTM. The effort to make the guide is evident by the quality. It is definitely worth the price of admission.

Thank you Anne and your team for bringing us this fantastic event each year. I also love the Fall and Spring Previews.

I don’t remember who sent me a plagiarized guide last year, but the graphics and fonts you used made it pretty obvious was filled with your team’s stolen ideas.😡😡😡

Marking my calendar for May 18. My favorite “holiday” of the year!💃🥰🎉

  17. Sarah Jane says:

Good for you! And sorry you felt the need to explain at such length. You and your team create such an amazing project and experience. Thanks for all you continue to do to foster my reading life!

  18. SHU says:

I appreciate that you will be offering it a la carte and will definitely be buying! I don’t necessarily have the bandwidth in my life for another group but I always enjoy the guide and am happy to pay for it!

  19. Julie says:

Anne, you and your team are absolutely amazing! What you offer in book club is well worth the cost. I love the community, the excitement, and the education. Ginger is just delightful.- she radiates joy! You pick fantastic books and ask the best questions. I have been joining book club for the unboxing party the past few years and I will definitely be doing the same this year. It is the BEST way to kick off the summer. I cannot wait! Thank you, Anne and the MMD team for being you. Thank you for all your hard work.

    • Sherri says:

$15 a la carte is a bargain! I look forward to your guide every spring and it truly is the best guide for summer reading. Anyone who balks at paying someone to research, read, curate, and design a list should just park themselves in the stacks at the library or bookstore and try to find the best books on their own.

  20. Kathryn McMillan says:

I couldn’t be more excited for the 2023 summer reading guide! I have always looked forward to it tbut his year’s sounds amazing – and 50!! Books!! WOW
I am surprised that you have not charged for it in the past hearing how much work and love goes into each one. The cost is more than fair. Here’s to counting the days until May 18th!

  21. Becca says:

I look forward to the guide every year and am more than happy to pay for it. Thank you for pushing the needle when it comes to encouraging women to charge for their labor – we need more of this in the world!

  22. Amanda C. says:

Without bookish creators like you, my reading life wouldn’t be nearly as joyful as it is today! I use your summer guide all year long and it is well worth it to pay for what I put as a high priority in my reading life. I look forward to another great year.

    • Michelle says:

Me too! The fees associated with both are so worth it, both for bookish content and just the overall community. This is a kind space on the internet and there aren’t many spaces for kindness out there anymore. Scrolling through the various posts and comments is always uplifting and informative! My TBR is never ending, however 😉

  23. camille says:

Very excited for this! I understand that to keep making things wonderful, it takes time and money. And also I can’t imagine seeing someone else just BLATANTLY plagiarize your work. What you’re asking is very reasonable and if people don’t want to pay it–just scroll through the MILES of free archive content on MMD and find awesome book recs to get you through the summer. It’s a win for everyone all around. I’m not in the patreon or book club but will def buy a la carte or join book club for the summer!

  24. Nina Wegener says:

You have given me the push I need to join either the Patreon or MMDBook Club community. I have been meaning to for some time but have delayed for admittedly a ridiculous reason: every time my credit card needs replacing whether because of expiration or fraudulent activity all of my automatic payment organizations require updating. Granted, a minor nuisance; a nuisance nevertheless. However, having presented a number of workshops, I am aware of how much work goes on behind the scenes in order to present a finished product for the public, the public who only see the finished product and are totally unaware of the prodigious amount of work that went into producing it. Thank you for all you do.

    • Lois Williams says:

I also had the credit card issue, my solution has been to charge things to PayPal, and then there’s only one place to update when my credit card changes.

  25. Julia says:

This update feels perfectly timed with the warm spring weather here in NYC.I look forward to watching the short video this evening. I totally understand the need to charge for the guide. I am currently an active book club member, but in the past I often just join for the month of May to attend the unboxing. Book club really adds to my reading life and the monthly price is totally reasonable. Looking foward to May 18th!!

  26. Christen says:

Your summer reading guide is one my favorite things about the summer! I appreciate you being so honest and I’m looking forward to getting mine next month.

  27. Kathy says:

We all love access to free content in this world of ours. But we also understand that it is expensive to gather and/or create that content, so we have to choose what we’re willing to pay for (if anything). I subscribe to a few news sites. I also listen to tons of podcasts that I love, but do not belong to any patreons. Books, though, are my true passion and I love the MMD podcast and Anne’s newsletters. To benefit from the MMD team’s curation is valuable and as I was watching the video, I was wondering what the bottom line would be. I think $15 is well worth it and I’m in!

  28. Melissa Wilson says:

I am completely happy to pay for the Summer Reading Guide. Thank you SO much for providing the ala carte option. That is absolutely perfect for me. Again, thank you!

  29. Cheryl Smith says:

Ann and Team- Thank you for all of the work that you do to augment my reading life. I LOVE your summer reading guide and being part of your book club. I think it’s wonderful that you’re offering so many reasonable options to obtain this summer’s reading guide. Change is hard but inevitable.

  30. Jennifer says:

I will purchase your summer reading guide without a blink of worry. It is worth every penny and you and your team deserve payment for the work you put into it. It guides my reading throughout the summer and I cannot wait to see what has been included.

  31. Laetitia says:

As someone who’s been an aspiring writer since college, I’m amazed it took so long for your team to ask a small fee for this high-quality guide. It looks like so much work, resesarch and effort goes into it each year. I’ve been asked to write pieces more than once and when I inquire about payment I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten the answer “Exposure”. It hurts every time. you deserve to get paid for the creative work you do.

  32. Jill says:

Anne – I’m so appreciative of all that you do to enhance our reading lives (and beyond). I know how much time, effort and thought you put into everything you do. WSIRN/MMD is a business and it’s your livelihood and you ought to be compensated. Happy, as always, to support.

  33. Elizabeth says:

Another thing to point out is that the SRG doesn’t contain advertisements or sponsored placement of books. It’s 100% the honest and independent opinions of Anne and the rest of the team. I value that, as well as all the good books I’ve discovered from MMD over the years. And, as others have said, I enjoy having the guides printed at Staples, pouring over them at the moment, and then saving them to look back on later.

I’ve also spent time in both the book club and the Patreon communities–they are each delightful in their own way. You can pay month to month, without a commitment to continue. So, for those on the fence, why not sign up for one month of book club or Patreon to check it out, enjoy the SRG unboxing and PDF, and then decide if you want to stay or cancel your subscription?

  34. Katie says:

Just a little note to say that I think it is SO appropriate that you’re charging for the summer reading guide – it is so high quality, useful, enjoyable, and, as you said, requires a lot of work! Of course you all love books AND this is your JOB, you are running a BUSINESS. Businesses, even the ones centered on joy and entertainment, still need to make money! I know it probably wasn’t an easy decision, but I, for one, think you made the right one. I’m happy to be putting my money where my mouth is and supporting people making wonderful bookish content:). All the best!

  35. Jacqueline says:

Hi Anne, I love your guide and the unboxing and realize all of the hard work that goes into it. You are running a business and paying employees and it is completely reasonable to charge. All the best!

  36. Barbara says:

Anne, thank you for your dedication to the wonderful world of reading. I know that when you decided on the new way forward it took many hours of discussing and weighing the pros and cons. We never really understand the behind the scenes of time and effort – sweat and tears; as the finished product always looks so effortless and easy. I appreciate your guides and go back to them time and time again when I am looking for inspiration for a new read or new author to explore. The offerings of the ways to purchase the guide and the price point is reasonable and affordable. I will be looking forward to purchasing my guide and excited to see what choices you have made. Because of your efforts, my 2023 summer reading is once again going to be amazing.😊

  37. Linda W says:

Anne, I understand, and agree with, your decision. The Summer Reading Guide and unboxing is an incredible value-added event and, given the amount of time and effort involved to create it, it’s reasonable to charge for it. I look forward to it every year!

  38. Beth says:

Your work is so valuable!! What an excellent video explaining it all – true fans will be in lockstep with support 🙂

  39. Cassie says:

The summer reading guide is a highlight of my summer reading, and the unboxing makes it all the more enjoyable!

You and your team put out a quality product and I am happy to pay for that.

  40. Shelli Riggs says:

I can only imagine the hours and hours of work that goes into the SRG! Of course it’s time to charge for your efforts. We are so grateful for your work and I will continue to support it financially. Can’t wait for May 18!
    Shelli

  41. Betsy Storey says:

Anne!! I hope you know how valuable your work is! The summer reading guide is such a gem and I look forward to it every year. Happy to pay for it. Xo

  42. Stacey says:

I look forward to the guide every year. I love the ala carte option and would’ve gladly paid more! I can’t wait to give you my $15 🤗

  43. Nancy Andrews says:

What a thoughtful, transparent way to make changes! I count the money I spend on MMD and Patreon one of the joys and privileges of my life. The content is excellent and full of integrity. Looking forward to all three unboxings and the guide. Thanks again for all you and the team bring to my reading life!

    • Sally Shughart says:

Good for you, Anne! You and Ginger and the rest of the team are top notch. I was encouraged FOR you while reading all these amazing comments. I hope that everyone and their moms buy a reading guide and you are overwhelmed by all the love and support. You deserve it. Can’t wait for May!

  44. Libby says:

Great video, thank you for taking the time to make it! I look forward to purchasing the guide this year and supporting the amazing work you all do.

  45. Laura J says:

    Hi Anne,
Thank you for the explanation but $15 is well worth it to hear your summer reading suggestions! I’m looking forward to it. A very reasonable price and good for you for figuring out you needed to make a change to the system. You will never please everyone but know that I’m excited and want you to continue to grow.

  46. Cindy says:

Count me in as someone who looks forward to the SRG coming out and getting to work early to print it on the color printer so that I can absolutely absorb it later. All the free content I’ve received from you…I’m joining Patreon for at least a few months. Thank you Ann and team!

  47. Jacquelyn says:

So appreciative of the work you and your team do! I absolutely cannot wait for this year’s guide, and would happily pay for it even if I weren’t already in your Patreon community. (Which, by the way, is easily the best $5 I spent each month!)

  48. Anu says:

The summer reading guide is worth it’s weight in gold. It has gotten me out of many a reading slump over the years and I will gladly pay a few dollars to get my hands on it this year and hopefully pull myself out of my current reading slump.

  49. Colleen Bonilla says:

Dearest Anne and Team, please know that your hard work and dedication has brought so much joy to my life in the past few years. So. Much. Joy. Even my husband gets a vicarious joy just from seeing how happy it makes me! I’ve often wondered how much your excellent production of the SRG might cost you in time, energy, and dollars. I love the points that so many fellow members have made here. The SRG is NOT just a reading list! You make it all look so easy, but it doesn’t take much intelligence to see how much work is involved. The guide is creative, bright, fun, informative – like a treasured gift from a group of dear friends. You all work hard to bring it to us, and you deserve every nickel you ask for…and more. We love you and support you all the way!

  50. Suzanne says:

I appreciate the many years of massive amounts of free content you have given to us. I only discovered your website and podcast a little over a year ago but I was able to go back and comb through all past years of summer reading guides and the resulting explosion of my TBR has brought me many hours of reading enjoyment. I’ve always tried to support creators that bring value to my life for free so it’s high time I started supporting Modern Mrs Darcy – this is just the push I needed.

  51. Colleen says:

I so appreciate everything you and your team do! As I have been a member of both the MMD and Patreon communities I love seeing all the new team members come on board and be a part of all the offerings! I’ve found many book twins in your team!
And, you are running a business and offerings like the SRG are a labour of love but also a tonne of work! I actually spend more money because I send it to a printer and get it printed out in a beautiful glossy format so I can enjoy it not just for the summer but long past that. As the guide evolves I look forward to all the little touches you add to it!
I am sorry to hear about people plagiarizing what you all do so well – that is disheartening but know that there are so many of us in this community that really love to see your curated selections and what you have to say about them!
SRG is a total highlight to my year – see you in May!

  52. Nellie Bewley says:

Absolutely worth the dollar bills. You can’t find this level of bookish creativity anywhere else. ❤️❤️❤️

  53. Stefanie N says:

Modern Mrs Darcy content and communities has enrichened my life to be worth far more that what I pay to be a Book Club and Patreon member. I am fortunate to have the funds in my budget to do so. IMHO I get more value from this organization than my streaming services and would gladly give those up for your content (and think of the newly available reading time I would have)!
Have you considered making membership gifting available – or is it already and I missed the memo? I understand that not all are making the choice between streaming and SRG – for some it’s about eggs or SRG. I could see there being folks in this community wanting to help your content get to those who would benefit from it.

    • Leigh Kramer says:

Thank you for the kind words! There are gift membership options for MMD Book Club but there isn’t a direct way to gift Patreon or the a la carte option. The workaround might be to input the giftee’s email but use your own credit card info. Hope that helps!

  54. Alexis Kenney says:

Summer is short, decision fatigue is draining, the Guide is something I really look forward to and trust to make the most of summer! I believe in paying creators for their work and I’m grateful for the frank discussion in this announcement. Congrats, MMD!

  55. Kelly Gesker says:

I have been a bookclub member for 5 years. Every time I review my budget, MMD is an absolute must. That being said, I would pay for the guide in addition! I love you guys, you have opened a whole new world for me and would follow you to the ends of the Earth!

  56. Tina says:

    Hello Anne!
You still sound like speaking and/or projecting your voice is a struggle for you. I know you said you were getting better, but I’m wondering if you or your doctor have considered speech therapy to help? When I lost my voice for two years I had to go to therapy to relearn how to breathe and how to use my vocal cords. Now I lose my voice sometimes, but I have at least a few techniques to help me not overly strain my throat/vocal muscles while I wait for it to come back. Throat Coat tea also was a great help to me. I know you have a medical doctor that’s taking care of you. I just wanted to offer a bit of support and encouragement as someone who’s had to deal with voice loss and speech problems over the years.😊

  57. Julie says:

Thanks for all of your hard work MMD team. Have been enjoying the guide for years and am looking forward to this years. I completely understand the change and am happy to compensate for all of those hours of effort! They make such a difference. I save my guides and revisit them often. For me, it’s worth it. Best of luck as MMD continues to grow.

  58. Missy E says:

Obviously someone who wants to curate their own summer reading can skip it if they feel weird about paying for it, but anyone who has flipped through it can tell it’s content that a lot of hours went into. If you can’t afford it or don’t want to pay for it, that’s okay. it makes absolute sense to me that those who want the careful curation and insights can choose to pay a little to support the work, experience, time, knowledge, and charm of the summer reading guide. It’s not like anyone can’t read books during the summer if they don’t buy it.

    • Meg says:

Well put! My reading taste is very different from Anne’s (I read hardly any fiction whatsoever), so I decided not to buy this year’s complete SRG and to curate my own summer reading.

However, it’s wonderful that the Minimalist Guide will be on the blog! I’m looking forward to seeing what’s recommended there.

  59. Stacie says:

Charging for the summer reading guide is absolutely justified. My only fear is that it’s becoming too much work for you! Reading and recommending great books should be a joyful experience. As much as I love the summer reading guide, if its development is causing unnecessary stress and anxiety over what should be read and how much should be read and what should be included, please take time to continue evaluating.

I don’t need 50 book suggestions or super-fancy designs or the absolute best of the best to make the summer reading guide worthy of my $15. What I need is simple: heart-felt recommendations that I can use to decide if the book should make MY reading list. And yes, books that you haven’t yet read, but are super-excited to read are definitely fair game! Keep it simple, keep it real, and keep it FUN. Thanks to you and your team’s continued hard work!

    • Tiffany says:

Yes! I’m glad to receive the srg as a patreon member, but I also would have paid for it as an add-on because it brings me so much joy. And, I agree with Stacie that if it seems like the guide is threatening to become a must-do monster, keep trying new things to see what works.

  60. Angie Kading says:

Thank you Anne! I love this community and am thankful that it is mostly made up of positive and appreciative people. It’s a lovely place to be, so thank you for all the work you put into this space to make it so! Charging for the guide seems more than justified. Free or not free-I wouldn’t miss it for the world!! Can’t wait, wohoo!! 🥳📚❤️🤩

  61. Marie Silver says:

Good for you and the MMD team! These guides are always a delight, and so well-crafted that an investment on our part as readers makes perfect sense!

  62. Kellie Caswell says:

I’m a MMD book club member but if not I would definitely pay for this if I wasn’t. Anne and her team go way above and beyond for her reading community. Can’t wait to see the new guide. 🥰

Is there a way to get the old guides? Are they on the MMD book club site? I want to see the first one made at your table 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

  63. Sarah G says:

Love the a la carte option! I so enjoy the unboxing video, but am at a stage in my life where I don’t use the paid book club or Patreon enough to justify an ongoing membership, so one time paid access is perfect! Thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into this over the years!

  64. Cheryl says:

I think it makes so much sense for you and your team to honour the work put into creating this guide and content! I’m debating between joining the Modern Mrs Darcy book club or becoming a patron. Would you be able to tell me some of the types of books you pick for this club? Maybe give me some older past titles and one from this year (I promise I’m not trying to steal info here!). I’m just trying to make the best choice for me personally, as I try to steer away from certain literary fiction known for triggering content (which has been my past experience with book clubs.)

    Thanks!

    • Kat says:

Hey Cheryl, I’m an MMD member and wanted to flag that one of the great things about joining the community is that you can easily acquire content warnings. You can post and ask for members to advise you on if the pick is right for you, or you can reach out to staff directly with your concerns. People are super helpful. I have found that the monthly picks are not ever overly “intense” content wise, but of course many books contain darker themes somewhere in them.

The monthly books are also paired with a flight pick (companion read) so you really have 2 books to choose from each month. Hope this helps.

  65. Sabiha says:

Thank you, Anne, for the very thoughtful video about the evolution of the SRG. This is a highlight for me every year! The thought, detail, and love that you and your team put into this are worth every penny. I can’t wait!

  66. Maggie Yoder says:

Anne and the entire MMD team. I whole heartedly support your decision. Your business is truly a craft and art and what you and your team have developed over the years is the best in the business (in both quality and quantity). Thank you for all you do for the reading community!

  67. Laura says:

Dear Anne and staff, You have been my anchor of podcasts with you relatable personal journeys but consistent optimism. I LOVE your work: the emails, the links, and the podcast. I also read the summer guide cover to cover. I joined Patreon because I thought that was the minimum for the great content you all put out every week, twice a week. I will happily pay for this if it makes it possible to provide this! Thank you so much!

  68. Diane says:

I am a member of the MMD Book Club and my favorite things are the author talks and the Summer Reading Guide Unboxing! In recent years, the SRG has become quite beautiful and fun to page through – like a magazine. I had no idea that your words and layouts have been plagiarized. That makes me so sad. As a member of the Book Club, I don’t have to pay additional money, but I hope that charging doesn’t turn other people away. I do hope that helps prevent plagiarizing. Many thanks, Anne, to you and your team. Keep up the good work in your wonderful reading community

  69. Nancy says:

The SRG is always wonderful and I would prefer to get the high quality recommendations we have become accustomed to. I look forward to it every year. It is WELL worth the money. I read from the SRG all year long. Thanks to Ann and the the whole wonderful team for what you do. It greatly enhances my life.

  70. Susanne says:

Question about Patreon…can I join for just a couple months/just the summer or does it have to be a whole year?

    • Ashling says:

It’s completely up to you. You can sign up either with their monthly plan and quit whenever you want, or you can choose the annual plan, which is discounted a little but then you’re committed for the whole year.

  71. Susie says:

Thank you so much for such a thorough explanation. I will definitely support this switch to a fee for the Guide. Might make a suggestion that at this point in time you may want to consider changing the title of the SRG list? This may reflect the change from the previous editions that were less production intensive and provided for free. Also, will the fact that you will now charge protect you in any way from being plagiarized? I was so sorry to here that this was an issue. Thank you again!

  72. Claire Long says:

I am going to echo the thoughts of many others when I say that the money I spend on being a Patreon member represents only a tiny fraction of the pleasure I have gotten from listening – and re-listening and re-listening -to the podcast over many years. I joined as my way of supporting the production of the podcast itself (not for any perceived/real bonuses) and am appreciative of all you and your team do. Very few people can afford to work for free and most of us don’t expect ‘something for nothing’ (although the online world sometimes gives us the impression that this is possible…) Thank you for your work – I am very happy to support it in concrete ways.

  73. Anne – I kept thinking about how many dudes wouldn’t think twice about charging for something this labor intensive, and you’re kind enough to record and produce an 11-minute video explaining a rationale that has been justified for years. Congratulations and way to go, creating boundaries and valuing your and your team’s time. I’ll be paying up and happy to do it!

  74. Melissa says:

I look forward to the SRG every year and am happy to support the work that goes into it. The $15 seems completely reasonable for such a robust, curated guide that saves me a ton of time hunting for the next right book. I appreciate you and your team!

  75. Liz says:

Super reasonable decision! Your podcast and reading guides have made me a meader again! Priceless – thank you 🙂

  76. Amy says:

The Summer Reading Guide and unboxing are seriously one of the highlights of my year! I can not wait. I belong to book club and even though I don’t use it to its full potential it is worth every penny! I truly appreciate all the hard work that goes into it. I’m a huge fan of the podcast and blog and all things MMD. Looking forward to May 18! Blocking it out on my calendar 😉🥰📚📚📚

  77. Sue says:

I agree with a lot of the above comments. I am a retired teacher and life is about priorities. My reading life is so much richer because of Anne and the work her team puts into their picks each month. I belong to the book club because that’s what I prioritize in my budget. I dropped my cable tv because I would rather read. I love the content Anne provides and she should charge for her hard work. She already gives a lot of free content away on her blog. Thank you Anne and your team for everything. You do amazing work and I am looking forward to unboxing day.

  78. I completely understand the rationale but was so disappointed to hear about the plagiarism you have encountered. That is so horrible and disheartening. Everyone loves a freebie but doesn’t alway understand the work involved. I think you have made a very fair and conscientious decision and you have given about a month to make the decision! Thank you!

  79. Danielle T says:

I am a member of both Patreon & MMD book club. I love the guide, & take the day off to watch BOTH unboxings that day! Along with the Readers’ Weekend activities, it is the most fun I’ve had via a computer! Reading wonderful books has allowed me to experience different places, situations, ideas, emotions & times that I otherwise would not experience. It gives value to my life. To have people who “get” that, & want to share their experiences as well, is so affirming. Each member of your team adds their unique part to your offerings. I look forward to May 18th & the other 364 days of quality fun this next year.

  80. Susan Puckett says:

Hi Anne and Team! First let me say how much I appreciate you all and all of the hard and excellent work you do. Your content is A-MAZE-ING!!! A book nerds paradise and playground all rolled into one neat package! Second, I have wondered now for several years why you haven’t been charging non members for your SRG!! It just seems like a “No Brainer Business Decision”! I mean…I can join the YMCA and use the complete facilities all year or I can pay a fee to use the outdoor pool just for the summer. Either way I have to pay to use their faciity. When I worked at Georetown University some things were provided for staff while other things (like a parking space) we paid a fee. My son is a police officer and he has to pay for and provide much of his own equipment! As a member of both the MMDBC and the MMD Patron communities now for several years, I can honestly say that there is no better book loving community on the net! I tell everyone I know about MMD et al and encourage them to join one or both of the communities! I am shocked, saddened, dismayed and pretty ticked off to hear that your content is being stolen!! That’s just dispicable! I wish I was an attorney …I would send a “cease & desist” letter every time it happened! On a side note…the NFL has law firms on retainer that have departments that do nothing but scour Fb, IG and other platforms and websites searching for copywrite infrigments! I have a good friend who, as a lawyer, that is all he does! But anyway… lastly I want to voice my support for you, for the Team and for this decision. There is no such thing as a free lunch and frankly your SRG is tastier and more satisfying than most food menues available today! And far more nourishing to my soul! And hey…no calories! You do what is best for your business…for your team…for your family and for you! You are such a kind and generous person with such a big heart and love for all things books that if it is right for you then it will be right for this wonderful boook community you have built. Rest easy and know that we support you and love you! One yellow lab mom to another!

  81. Ann A. says:

Thank you for not compromising the excellent quality of the Summer Reading Guide. I so look forward to the new “list” each year and know that this will be another exceptional guide!
I appreciate your taking the time to explain all that goes in to this project, and why change is necessary. Can hardly wait for May 18 to arrive, and thank you for all of the extra book lists available throughout the year! You have created such a wonderful community for readers, and I love it.

  82. tracy boxeth says:

I have gotten your amazing summer reading guide for 3 summers now and I love it. I still have the 2022 nearby to check for more books to read. I have no problem paying and am waiting to hear more about the options. The book club for the summer sounds great! I am a teacher and love summer reading!! Thank you for all you do, I can’t wait to see the unboxing and get the guide this year.

  83. Amanda F. says:

Summer Reading guide has been something I’ve cherished since I first heard of Anne through Holly Furtick’s book club in 2020 when I had cancer. I love skimming and reading each section with care then highlighting my favorites summer time activity. It’s truly become a tradition for me to look forward to each summer. I love and appreciate the work that is put into the book — it’s been so impactful to me and pushing me in my reading goals and tastes. Thank you and looking forward to reading this years edition.

  84. Sarah says:

Worth every penny ! What you do is high quality . Thank you for all of your effort and craft to help your fellow readers out 🙂

  85. Heather says:

Hello Anne and the MMD Team! I 100% support your decision to charge for the SRG. As a member of the MMD book club I have often wondered why it was offered free to the masses. The care and commitment to quality you and the team have exhibited deserves to be compensated appropriately. My recommendation to anyone who is deciding whether to pay for it or not is to give the book club a try! There are so many perks (live author chats, readers weekend, discussion boards, classes, etc.) that you’re guaranteed a return on your investment. -Encouraged reader and proud supporter!

  86. Charlotte Grayson says:

Well said Anne! I can’t imagine the amount of work the guide takes and have used your guide for years to plan my summer reading. As an avid reader, a woman, and a woman business owner, I am proud to support your unique business in every way I can as a book club and Patreon member and will continue to do so. Kudos to you and your team for making the hard, but smart decisions to update your business model to reflect the value you bring to your product! Can’t wait for the unboxing and the 2023 Summer Reading Guide!

  87. Kat says:

This is totally fair. The internet is increasingly noisy with ads, plagiarism, and articles written by bots. I feel good about paying for sincere, high quality content by a small business. I’m an MMD member and the price is a steal for the amount of content throughout the year. The a la carte option is priced at less than a hardcover book. More than fair for book lovers.

Happy reading y’all, happy to support this change!

    • Kat says:

Wanted to add to my original comment — everything unpaid on the internet is SPONSORED. There are either ads everywhere, or they’re trying to sell you something. Paying for content is truly a relief. It’s straight forward.

  88. Amy says:

Good job, Anne! I’m glad you are charging for your work. It is a fair price and the amount of work you and your team do for this is extraordinary. I am a book club member and am grateful that it is a perk of the book club. The content there is wonderful and I learn a lot on that site. My reading life would be less without it. It is my favorite place on the internet!! Your business is growing because you have such high standards for your work. Thank you for all you do! Great job to all of you at MMD!!

  89. Beth says:

The SRG is worth every penny,as is,the annual book club membership. The guide and unboxing is a delightful kick off to Summer and full of happy!
The guide and membership is one way of supporting the arts, as the guide is a work of art!

  90. I’m thankful for you and your entire team – your work matters and makes my life richer, for sure. Thanks for setting an example business leadership and of how to make hard decisions in an authentic and transparent way.

  91. Megan says:

Anne, Thank you for your thoughtful message. As a member of both the MMD Book Club and Patreon communities, I always look forward to the Summer Reading Guide. Can’t wait!

  92. Susan says:

Completely understandable business decisions. As a MMD Book Club member, I am quite fine with the SRG being a perk of the membership, vs available far and wide for all to see. Thanks for all your hard work. It is appreciated and enjoyed.

  93. Megan Martin says:

The Summer 2022 Summer Reading Guide was the first one I’ve ever gotten, and I loved it SO MUCH. (I supposed nothing + anything seems like a lot.)
I hadn’t read many books for fun at all in 2020. By Fall of 2021, I leapt into reading head first, and wanted to catch up on ALL the books. Between Oct 2021 – Oct 2022 I read 100 books. In all of 2022, I also read 100 books. Many were from the 2022 summer reading guide.

Today, I feel I’ve just about memorized the books on (last year’s) list, so that if I happen upon any of them in a library or bookstore, I know it’s a good choice. It was also a good year for catching up on backlisted titles, many of which I found on the Summer Reading guide. I feel a sense of accomplishment at just how many of the books I was able to read from the list in the last year.
I’m not sure I can handle more?!?! But I’m excited about it.

  94. Allison G. Smith says:

I’m so happy that so many people are supporting you! I joined Patreon last year so I could get early access! I was dying to get my hands on the guide. I love all the added content and it’s well worth the (Minimal!) price! If I wasn’t a member – I would still pay the ala carte! You are offering a service and should absolutely be compensated. I think it is amazing that you have turned your passion into a business and there is no need (imo) to justify a charge. But, it was very classy of you to do so.

  95. Sheri Anderson says:

Congratulations on moving your business forward!!! As a long time Summer Reading Guide user, I totally this! I always look forward to its appearance.
I also appreciate all the work you do on your blog and at least buy a copy of all your books. As a Canadian, the exchange rate is horrible right now or I would consider a ongoing support plan. For now, I will get the guide a la carte. Congratulations, Anne on this change. It is well deserved as those of us who have used the guide know how much work, time, money and love goes into it!❤️

  96. Lisa Rose says:

    Anne,
Thank you to you and your team for finding a way to continue offering a high-quality summer reading guide. I have gotten so many wonderful book suggestions from previous guides as well as from your blog FOR FREE over the years, that I am more than happy to pay. I know that what I receive will be a well-researched list of excellent book suggestions that will both show me new books in genres I already know I love as well as introduce me to books I would NEVER find on my own in genres I don’t gravitate toward. Happy reading to all!

  97. Dawn says:

    So looking forward to this!!
When Anne says “…for the same $15 you can get…” what is she referring to? 3 months Patreon? She listed a ton of stuff. I’m all on board to pay but want to be the best shopper too.😉👍🏻

    • Erica Harvey says:

Hi Dawn! You have several options: join the What Should I Read Next? Patreon community for $5 [may cancel after 1 month], the MMD Book Club for $15 [may cancel after 1 month], or buy the guide and Unboxing Event for $15 a la carte. Enjoy your summer reading! 🙂

  98. Starr White says:

I have no problem with a fee for the reading guide but I would LOVE to get the information in written form and not have to watch a video.

  99. Summer says:

Bravo! Cheering you on in this endeavor. I can’t believe we have gotten the Summer Reading Guide for FREE for so many years! I am now a book club member, but if I weren’t, I would GLADLY pay the $5 or $15 to get the guide – and become a member of your Patreon or book club community. You have helped me find some of my very favorite books and I can’t wait to find some new ones in this year’s SRG!

  100. Suzanne says:

Anne – this video was wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to record it. It is 100% understandable why you have had to make the decisions you have made. Your Summer Reading Guide is worth the $15.00 you are charging. I am a Patreon and MMD Book Club member, both of which are well worth the price. Your SRG is so much more than a list or than anything I could imagine doing for myself. It hurt my heart to hear that people plagiarize your work. That is super upsetting. I cannot thank you enough for all that you and your team do. You have made my reading life so much better!

  101. Leneigh Bosdet says:

Count me in on the chorus of us who are grateful you do this work and happy to compensate you for it. The guide brings me joy every year, please don’t feel you need to justify this decision! Your work is worth it and so much more.

  102. Lea Buck says:

I echo most of the comments I’ve scrolled through. Way to go MMD team for making this difficult choice! I was waiting for you to say this in your video but I think it’s worth noting… another alternative to your audience paying for the guide is to have publishers and authors sponsor the guide so it would be cluttered with sponsored ads, sponsored blurbs, etc. I am SO THANKFUL THAT YOU ARE NOT WILLNG TO GO THAT ROUTE! Thank you for being a business that prioritizes quality and authenticity over expanding your followship (is that a word?). Ironically, by making your readers pay for the guide, you are prioritizing us over the book business and all the dollars I’m sure could be made from that. Well done!

  103. Kelli says:

Thanks, Anne! This was the push I needed to join the community. I’d been thinking about it for a while but didn’t get around to it. But I can’t miss the reading guide- it’s the highlight of spring for me!!

  104. Tracey says:

Thanks for taking the time to explain the costs of making the guide. It all makes sense and makes me appreciate the behind the scenes effort even more. I agree with those that said it’s like a specialty magazine curated by a trusted expert. Sorry to hear about the plagiarism, that must be so disheartening. Looking forward to getting the guide through Patreon!

  105. Teresa says:

Thank you for the update! I will be purchasing the guide, and with no qualms whatsoever about doing so. My husband and I own a business (our livelihood for nearly 40 years). In addition, I also own a small consulting business myself (since 2013), and completely understand the time, effort and sacrifice that goes into running a business. As far as the plagiarism issue, if all of your material is copyrighted, I would encourage you to seek legal counsel regarding the infringement of copyright (intellectual property). I’m sure that it is the epitome of frustrating to work so diligently on a project only to see it copied and pasted by someone else! It’s possible that issuing an official warning letter/email via your attorney to the offending party/parties could even help put a stop to much of the plagiarism (without needing to take it to court etc). Just a thought. It’s so unfair to work so hard and have that work be stolen so easily and without regard!

Thank you and your team for all of your content! I look forward to purchasing your 2023 summer reading guide!

  106. Cassie says:

Thank you so much for an a la carte option. I really love having a way to support your work that’s not a recurring subscription. It’s so thoughtful to offer so many different options.

  107. Laura says:

Makes sense to me and I’m very happy to pay! You and your team have added so much value and joy to my reading life. Thank you for all you do.

  108. Dana Earley says:

The Summer Reading Guide and unboxing is worth paying for. It is the equivalent of a “kid in a candy store” moment for book lovers! Fortunately, as a member of MMD Book Club, it is free for me but I would pay for it or join the club to get it.

  109. Roxanne Klump says:

I love all your “unboxings”. Can’t even imagine the work that goes into each season’s guide. It’s your business and I totally understand the small fee you are charging. You have changed my reading life and I can’t wait for May 18th!

  110. Jackie says:

To be honest, I’ve always been a bit amazed that the guide has been free. It’s so evident the extraordinary amount of time and talent that goes in to producing it. What Anne, MMD & WSIRN have added to my life is priceless!

  111. Rebekah Jenkins says:

I have been an avid user of the SRG since 2019. I usually read the majority of the guide and curate my reading from May-December with the guide. I’m happy to pay a small fee to ensure this can continue to happen. When you mentioned last year that you had considered not doing a guide due to the time and money commitment, I was worried the announcement was going to be that. Excited for unboxing, as I am every year!

  112. Cheri says:

Thanks for making this video, Anne. I’m looking forward to this year’s SRG, as I have for the last several years. Happy to continue supporting you and the team… please keep up your fantastic work.

  113. Mary says:

I think charging for your work is totally understandable, and I appreciate that you took the time to record a video laying out all that goes into the Summer Reading Guide.

Personally, I don’t need all the bells and whistles that come with the guide (a single sheet .pdf of titles would work for me!), but there is no denying that you have put together a fantastic resource. I can’t remember when I first found MMD, but it was many years ago. I have been so impressed with how the site has expanded and evolved since then.

Not sure if you are looking for feedback for future guides, but one of the things I loved about those early guides was that they included older books and classics. There are so many lists out there for new releases, and it’s always nice to hear about older titles that I might have missed.

    Thanks for all you do!

  114. Kate says:

Your Summer Reading Guide is so well done, and keeps improving each year – it really has the look and content of a professionally-produced magazine. I remember when I got last year’s guide, being surprised to get such quality at no charge. I think it’s definitely worth paying for, especially when there is the option to join the Patreon or book club and get MORE bookish content along with it! Thanks for everything you and your team do, especially all the time and effort that goes into the SRG and unboxing event!

  115. David Wolfe says:

Long time listener to the podcast, first time financial supporter, beyond happy to pay $15 for this to support the work of Anne and the team. Hopefully, I’ll get to the place in my budget where I can support the Patreon.

So many book recos I never would have found without WSIRN, not least of which is Clare Keegan. Keep up the good work!

  116. Hilary says:

I just now listened & watched to the full video explaining your decision. Not that this is funny but had you just said “Hi Friends. It’s super costly in terms of time, effort & $. This year- you have to pay ” I would have thought… “ok makes sense . Thanks for all your hard work ” 🙂 I can’t wait for the unboxing! (Love being part of the Patreon community. I’ve tried much harder the last few years to be directly supportive of the people whose work I admire in all sorts of genres).

  117. Heather Johnson says:

    Hi Anne + Team,
Thank you for the a la carte option! I’m so happy to support your business and appreciate the thoughtful care that went into this decision.

  118. Heather says:

I have been enjoying the SRG and other content you’ve been publishing for years now, happy to pay this small fee given how much value I receive consuming it! Cant wait for it to show up in my inbox.

  119. Laura says:

This will be my first Summer Reading Guide and I can’t wait for May 18th. I won’t be able to attend the live kickoff so will there be a video I can watch at a later date?

    • Anne Bogel says:

YES! Coming live is fun, but it’s important to us that you’re able to participate when and how it makes sense for you! That’s why the replay is there for you to watch, whenever and as many times as you want. 🙂

  120. Lisa Hunt says:

Completely worth the price!! This last year I was on a tight budget and couldn’t stay on Patreon. If I wasn’t back to a place where I could support monthly again I would happily have paid the a la carte price. I look forward to the summer reading guide and unboxing every year. I am library user so the $$ pay for months of good reading at a way cheaper cost then if I was buying a bunch of books I never read. Instead, through the MMD team my mom, sister, niece and I have learned how to pick the right books to read, identify what works for us individually and suggest books to each other. Thanks for all you have done for my reading life!!

  121. Sarah Silvester says:

    Finally watched this video 😅
So happy to be a patreon member and support you and the team Anne, if I wasn’t I would purchase the guide a la carte, for sure. It’s such a cool product (am eye rolling at one commenter who complained about printing it themselves – hi, we don’t all live in America, and printable downloads are a love language! Accessible to all! Let alone the mind boggling thought of printing and packaging and getting all those items out to people 😅)
It seems as though this has been an emotionally exhausting road this year and I hope it’s so fun and awesome come unboxing day that all the stress goes away.
Also I hear you on the plagiarism front – was surprised and upset to see a “summer reading guide” shared by an instagrammer either last year or the year before as though it was a Whole New Thing, and it was SO similar to what you guys do that it hurt.
Keep up the amazing work xxx

    Anne & co.,

I’m not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed to hear the news of the new cost at first, but after watching your video (excellent explanation by the way), it made total sense. Thank you so much for the explanation.I’ve been a committed MMD fan for years, and have put the Summer Reading Guide release date on my calendar for just as long. Your SRG brings me so much happiness and delight – I’m happy to pay for the joy it brings me, just like I pay for other things that bring me joy. 💜

Been a faithful follower for 10 years. But in recent years, I’ve seen recommendations that are a departure from Christian values so I have felt misled by some recommendations and need to double check with other sources. Due to this, I won’t be paying the $15 mentioned when I can find other reviewers who are content to be paid by the aff links. I understand, but I’m also not willing to part with that kind of cash for reviews I don’t 💯 trust any more.

I look forward to this guide every year and am happy to pay! Only now had time to watch your video and makes complete sense. I LOVE MMD!

    Thank you.

    Hi,
I’m wondering how long it takes for the guide to arrive. I have my CC receipt showing I paid May 24, but I’ve not received anything yet.

Sorry, couldn’t find another way to contact you.
