The 2022 Summer Reading Guide is here!

Today we’re welcoming summer in style, along with a bright and beautiful new reading season: the ELEVENTH annual Summer Reading Guide is here!

If you subscribe to our emails, it should hit your inbox at 9:00am Eastern time this morning. (If you don’t see it in your inbox, please visit the help section on modernmrsdarcy.com/SRG.)

We always say that summer’s too short to squander on books that aren’t right for you, or aren’t right for you right now. This guide includes books I adore—though that doesn’t mean they’re right for every reader. That’s why in every description, I give you the information you need to help you decide if that book sounds like a good fit for you.

This year’s guide is a little different than the past few editions. In a sense, we’re returning to our origins, when I didn’t share only brand-new titles, but also backlist titles that have stood the test of time (and have blessedly shorter wait lists at your local library). For 2022 we’re featuring two dozen new-this-year titles I adore and think you might, too, plus we’re highlighting favorite backlist books that may be just right for your reading list, right now.

The Summer Reading Guide is a gift to our subscribers—but if you’re not already a subscriber, it’s not too late to get the guide.

Visit the Summer Reading Guide HQ page to sign up and get the 2022 guide delivered to your inbox, along with ongoing bookish updates.

We once again released an expanded guide—with bonus book recs from our team—for Modern Mrs. Darcy Book Club members and What Should I Read Next Patreon supporters! It’s our way of saying a big THANK YOU to our community members. To get the expanded edition of the guide, sign up for the MMD Book Club or WSIRN Patreon to get immediate access to that edition and the replay from our Unboxing event.

If you find something great in the Summer Reading Guide, would you spread the book love? Visit the Summer Reading Guide HQ page to get eye-catching SRG images to download and share on your favorite social media platform. Our hashtag is #MMDSummerReading. (Follow me on Instagram at @annebogel, the podcast at @whatshouldireadnext, and Book Club at @mmdbookclub for summer reading goodness all season long.)

Happy summer, and happy reading!

Anne

Thank you SO MUCH for the Enthusiasm Rating page! It’s the checklist I never knew I needed. It was super helpful for narrowing down the choices at a glance; I’m excited to dig into some of these titles this summer!

Anne and Team – Thanks again for compiling a wonderful Summer Reading Guide! I enjoyed the unboxing event (my first ever) and I’m looking forward to reading my first selections, and have my library hold requests submitted! I also pre-ordered the Gabrielle Zevin book from the list for my daughter, as I think she will love this one.

    Happy Reading!

    Hi Anne et al.,

I work at a small community library in Lacombe, Alberta. My program coordinator colleague Miranda and I are HUGE fans of your podcast and your summer reading guide. We were wondering about utilizing the SRG for our summer reading challenges as a public library. I’ve been searching your website for info on whether this breaches any copyright or trademark rules. Could you contact me or send me in the right direction for information? Thanks!
