Stylish sweaters for your winter wish list

Revel in sweater weather with this can't-wait-to-wear-them collection of favorite pullovers

Readers, today I’m thrilled to welcome our team member Chelsey Feder to the blog. Two things you need to know about Chelsey: the first time we met in person she was wearing a Jane Austen t-shirt, and she might love sweaters even more than I do! Welcome, Chelsey! â€“ Anne

My sweater collection is one area where my minimalist-by-nature self allows maximalism to conquer all. I don’t know how many sweaters I own, all I know is there’s room for one more.

Even with my maximalist joy turned up to a ten, I keep a few parameters around sweater-shopping, lest I run out of space. To join my crew, a sweater must be in a new-to-me pattern, knit, color, or style to fill a need or complement my existing wardrobe.

This season, I narrowed my window shopping to a stylish selection of pullovers. I’m excited to share them with you today, and I hope this collection helps us revel in sweater weather now and for the chilly months to come.

If you find a fun addition to your winter wardrobe among these knits—or a seasonal gift for someone you love—I’d love to hear about it! Please share your favorite sweater finds in the comments.

Madewell Alna V-Neck Sweater

I. Love. This. Knit. As someone who adores the look of sweaters, layers, and winter accessories—but runs too warm when fully bundled up—I appreciate a light, open-knit sweater for layering or keeping comfortable in the transition from chilly outdoors to artificial heat. I have my eye on the beautiful teal blue (you must go check it out, so pretty).

Old Navy Melange Cozy Mock-Neck Sweater

I feel so chic in a mock-neck sweater. Cozy, lightweight, and easy to layer, this is an essential winter basic. It comes in several earthy colors, but this blush pink is seriously tempting me.

Target Crewneck Pullover Sweater

Anne snagged this adorable Target sweater for her teenage daughter, and I think we should all follow suit! You do not need to be a teen to participate in cute fashion trends, and this fabulous crewneck comes in a variety of colors to suit any style, age, or personality.

Amazon Two Piece Casual Wide Leg Sweater Lounge Set

Pictures do not do this cozy lounge set justice (I know because I bought it…as research). The rib knit is soft but not fuzzy, nicely weighted, and falls nicely on my figure. I foresee wearing the top separately with jeans or joggers, but I’d feel perfectly put-together leaving the house in the full lounge-y sweater ensemble.

Aerie CozyUp Waffle Quarter Zip Sweater

Aerie releases a slightly different version of this waffle knit sweater every year, and I always succumb to the lure of ultimate coziness. It’s SO soft, y’all. The longer length is ideal for wearing with warm leggings.

Able Harriet Slouchy Sweater

Able is well known for their sustainable business practices and carefully curated collections of high-quality clothing. Their stunning sweaters come with a lifetime guarantee, making them a top-tier option when building a capsule wardrobe or selecting a special gift for your fellow sweater-lover.

Banana Republic Lucia Cashmere Ribbed Sweater

Anne waited for the recurring 40% off sales to purchase this stylish cashmere sweater in two colors. It’s extremely similar to the fan favorite Jenni Kayne sweater at a third of the price (if you snag a sale). Banana Republic shares stellar style inspiration in the product photos; this sweater will clearly elevate any outfit.

Faherty Legend Sweater Shirt

This might look like a classic flannel shirt, but it is a SWEATER. Truly the best of both worlds, this button up sweater tops my wishlist. I’d layer it with a thin turtleneck or wear it unbuttoned as a light outer layer.

Gap Factory Raglan Crewneck Sweater

Tis the season for sweaters that do not look like sweaters. This sweatshirt-like raglan sweater would pair well with joggers, jeans, or dress pants—a versatile basic you’ll still reach for in the springtime.

Loft Rainbow Sequin Sweater

MMD Team Member Brigid shared this sparkly number in a recent team meeting (the conversation often revolves around planning and books, but we contain multitudes). Anne bought it right after! No need for a special occasion or holiday gathering to wear this eye-catching pullover; Brigid sports hers at book events and work-from-home meetings.

Abercrombie Classic Easy Turtleneck Sweater

If you hear “Abercrombie” and immediately think of heavy cologne-scented polo shirts, dimly-lit stores, and half-clothed models you are not alone; however, the formerly teen-centric store is now full of attractive basics like this cheerful pink turtleneck sweater (and great jeans, so I’m told). I love that slit detail on the sides of the sweater: it makes for an easy French tuck.

Torrid Intarsia Pullover Balloon Sleeve Sweater

The striped sleeves on this cream colored sweater lend a touch of bright, happy detail while keeping it simple and understated.

Do you have your eye on any sweaters this season (for gifts or for yourself)? Please share in the comments.

I love every one of the sweaters featured in today’s blog! However, as someone who is ALWAYS cold, I gravitate towards really well made sweaters that are 100% wool. Then I put a thick turtleneck knit under for more warmth! Over the past 10 years, the quality of yarn has declined, even in Germany and the Scandinavian mills, which leads to unsightly pills after only a few wearings. The number of companies that are committed to high quality has dwindled and I have to be willing to pay a bit of a premium for the quality I want. Sadly, none of the companies I purchase from were featured and I am sure you don’t want their names included. I enjoyed window shopping!

I don’t see why not. With my current financial state, I appreciate the lower-priced sweaters, but I’d love to see links to the sweaters you like as well. As a knitter, I know how nice a great wool sweater can be!

So many great sweaters! My favorite is the Faherty Sweater Shirt. What a fantastic idea…a sweater that looks like a flannel shirt! Unfortunately, it’s way outside my budget. Maybe it will go on sale at some point. (Hope, hope)

I really appreciate your including several sweaters that come in plus sizes. Thank you! Now to resist temptation to buy myself a sweater when I need to spend my money on gifts!

My favourite sweaters are the ones I knit myself. I realize not everyone can knit, but Store bought ones pill quick, and the quality product is just not there when purchasing fast fashion.
