a lifestyle blog for book lovers

Happy Friday, readers! It’s a cool 43 degrees this morning, which might mean our first jacket weather of the season is actually here. I’m hoping to enjoy some hiking time this weekend, followed by plenty of books and hot tea and maybe the new West Wing Special.

More on this below, but I don’t want you to miss this special today-only news: my newest book Don’t Overthink It is on sale for just 1.99 across all ebook platforms. The price has never been anywhere close to this low before. Snatch it up while you can!

My favorite finds from around the web:

  • How to Misread Jane Austen. “Instead of asking what Austen is trying to tell us, we might ask what she’s trying to show us. But the answer to that seems to be: It depends on who’s looking.”

Don’t Overthink It is on sale!

My book Don’t Overthink It: Make Easier Decisions, Stop Second-Guessing, and Bring More Joy to Your Life is on sale for $1.99 today only across all ebook platforms! Don’t overthink taking advantage of this deal. (I couldn’t resist.)

Kindle | Nook | Apple Books | Google Play | Kobo

Don’t miss these posts:

Have a great weekend!

Really enjoyed your “friluftsliving” article. Great ideas/tips! Prioritizing weekly times like this together outdoors has really given our family so many joyful times this year! The eerily close Cameron Peak fire has put a damper on this lately, but we are still getting out when air quality is good.

I have just started watching The West Wing and am only on Season 1. To say I am addicted would be an understatement. I was to young to to appreciate it (I was in my twenties) and was not much into politics back then. Now I could sit and watch it all day.

I’m rewatching it for the third or fourth time since 2013. It usually takes me a year or 18 months to make it through all 7 seasons since I don’t watch it every night.

The “bring me the finest bagels and muffins in all the land” scene in season 1 remains one of my favorite WW scenes of all time!

Oh, to be discovering WW for the first time! Not sure if you’re already aware of it, but there is a wonderful companion podcast, The West Wing Weekly, which recapped every episode. One of the co-hosts is Josh Malina, who was in the cast in the second half of the show’s run.

I am delighted to see the reference to Tapping as a source of relief for anxiety, PTSD, pain, etc. I use it on myself regularly and for knotty issues, I worked with a trained psychologist…a couple of sessions took care of an issue I would have spent years in therapy to resolve. I highly recommend Nick Ortner, who has led the movement. The app, Tapping Solution, offers step by step instructions and words for a wide variety of symptoms.
So glad to see Anne’s latest on sale! I have enjoyed everyone of her books – each different and well worth the time and energy! She’s an excellent writer.

I was so excited to open my email and see the book sale!! I immediately clicked over and bought it and can’t wait to start reading it!! Thank you for that!!
Also, thank you for the phone photo storage article, I have been agonizing lately on how to save all of my photos since I’m ready for a new phone!
And lastly, I wanted to suggest “The Land Girls” on Netflix. If you haven’t watched it give it a try…I just finished Season 1 and I can’t get enough of it!!!

Three one-way tickets to Rhode Island, please. And all things considered, $680,000 is not a bad price for that house.

I could relate to the article on nesting. After swearing we would never paint again after we first moved in, I ordered paint chips from Sherwin Williams the other day and then started looking at light fixtures.

My pandemic reading life includes many more audioboooks. I go for long walks in the neighborhood, just to get out of the house, and have listened to 25 audiobooks while walking since March. I normally listen to 4-6 audiobooks in a year, usually on long roadtrips for vacation.

(As an added bonus, I’ve also lost 10lbs from all the walking, while still participating in the great pandemic bake-off).

THe West Wing is on my list – it was huge when I was in high school and college and I had friends that watched religiously but not me. I’m looking forward to watching it.
