Camille Pagán
Life and Other Near-Death Experiences

Life and Other Near-Death Experiences

Bustle calls this novel "anything but formulaic: it's unceasingly delightful, and Libby Miller is a sensitive, super-smart Everywoman hero you'll come to adore." I’ve had the pleasure of reading several of Camille’s books, and they have a few important things in common: they're all about love, loss, and navigating life's curve balls with humor and style. They go down like light-hearted, escapist reads, but they address issues that matter to us all. I read this one last fall.

Woman Last Seen in Her Thirties

Woman Last Seen in Her Thirties

Author:

Camille Pagán's new release, that the publisher says is about a woman "on the verge of a nervous breakthrough. At fifty-three, Maggie Harris has a good marriage and two mostly happy children. Perpetually anxious, she's also accumulated a list of semi-reasonable fears: falling air conditioners, the IRS, identity theft, skydiving, and airbag recalls. But never once did Maggie worry that her husband of nearly thirty years would leave her. On the day Adam walks out the door, everything that makes Maggie secure goes with him. Only then does she realize that while she's been busy caring for everyone else, she's become invisible to the world—and to herself. Maggie cautiously begins to rebuild her life with a trip to Rome, a new career, and even a rebound romance. But when a fresh crisis strikes and an uncertain future looms, she must decide: How much will she risk to remain the woman she's just become?"

From the publisher: "When struggling novelist James Hernandez meets poet Louisa 'Lou' Bell, he's sure he's just found the love of his life. There's just one problem: she's engaged to his oldest friend, Rob. So James toasts their union and swallows his desire. As the years pass, James's dreams always seem just out of reach—he can't finish that novel, can't mend his relationship with his father, can't fully commit to a romantic relationship. He just can't move on. But after betrayal fractures Lou's once-solid marriage, she turns to James for comfort. Then life throws James one more curveball, and he, Rob, and Lou are forced to come to terms with the unexpected ways in which love and loss are intertwined."

Then a shocking tragedy reveals that Jenny's life is far from perfect. Reeling, Penelope vows to stop keeping the peace and finally deal with the issues in her relationship. So she comes up with a radical proposal for Sanjay: both will write a list of changes they want each other to make - then commit to complete and total honesty. This Won’t End Well

This Won’t End Well

I've had the pleasure of reading several of Camille's books, and they have a few important things in common: they're all about love, loss, and navigating life's curve balls with humor and style. They go down like light-hearted, escapist reads, but they address issues that matter to us all. They get into heavy territory, but Camille's books are FUN. In her latest, a chemist named Annie who got forced out of the job she loved has her life turned upside down. Her fiancé wants to go find himself—alone—in Paris, her mysterious new neighbor needs her help, and a new friend/detective has her sneaking around minding other people's relationships, while causing her to question her own. I loved watching Annie make her own path and take charge of her life.
