What Should I Read Next Episode 216: A sneak peek at Don’t Overthink It

The new year is here and that means another milestone is just around the corner. My newest book Don’t Overthink It: Make Easier Decisions, Stop Second-Guessing, and Bring More Joy Into Your Life comes out on March 3rd. In celebration and anticipation on today’s episode I’m sharing chapter 13 from the book, called “Small Shifts Toward Simple Abundance.”

I chose this chapter because there’s a funny story in here that inspired the beautiful cover design AND because while most people are familiar with the negative aspects of overthinking, like worry, rumination, second-guessing, in this book I also wanted to talk about setting overthinking aside in order to bring more peace, joy, and love into our lives.

Overthinkers too often think themselves out of life’s simple pleasures, but in this chapter I wanted to examine how we can smartly think our way into them. This chapter is a joy and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Let’s get to it!

I was just thinking that this year I really am going to start lighting all those candles I have stored away! However, I was lamenting that it’s summer here in Australia right now and so starting this new habit may not work as there are not as many night-time hours to enjoy them. I loved your story about the friend who lit her candles in the day, I’ve never thought of doing that but I will be, starting tomorrow. 🙂

I expected the book to be amazing. I didn’t expect it to make me cry. (Good tears, though.) 😊 Now I’m even more excited for release day!

I really enjoyed listening to this chapter. Another great book:) I couldn’t believe it when I heard your thoughts on Roosevelt Rd.! I moved away from the Chicago area 22 years ago to live in northern Vermont. Don’t miss Roosevelt Rd. at all. Everywhere I drive here is beautiful and it makes me so happy.

I loved this preview, Anne – thank you! I pre-ordered the book weeks ago, but after listening to this chapter, I’ve decided to gift my sister the Page One bundle – she’s having a rough time right now, and I think simplifying and finding abundance would really help her.

I just listened to this podcast this morning. I pre-ordered the book several days ago, and am really glad I did! How about a t-shirt with your jacket cover on it to remind me not to overthink it?
