Today, a bit of housekeeping. We’re renaming our monthly book review link-up, and I need your help.
The twitterature linkup started almost two years ago as a place for me to share short and sweet reviews of what I’ve been reading lately: the books that don’t get their own full posts, but I still want to share with you.
And it’s been your place to share your reviews of what you’ve been reading lately with the rest of us. (Dozens of MMD readers tell me they no longer struggle with finding good books to read because they get so many ideas from YOU in this link-up!)
There aren’t any rules for the link-up: we just share short reviews of whatever it is you’ve been reading lately. “Short” is relative, as is “lately.” It happens every month, on the 15th, and the link-up lasts for a week.
Really, it’s just an excuse to talk about books.
When I first started twitterature, my reviews were short—legitimately close to twitter’s 140 character limit. But over time my reviews have gotten longer. In some cases, much longer. I prefer it that way, and you all have told me you do, too.
These posts have absolutely nothing to do with twitter, and the title is just confusing.
So: let’s rename it.
My question to you is: what should we call it?

Confession: I’ve never joined in on the fun because I thought it had something to do with Twitter (which I know nothing about;)!! So glad to read this post and, no matter what the name, I’ll be tagging along! I’m not creative enough to come up with a name, but keep us updated!:)
Reading roundup? Book reports? Book reports with Modern Mrs. Darcy?
I have absolutely no good ideas on this front, but I do like “Book Reports!”
For the record, I’ve always been fond of Twitterature, because I thought it was a clever play on words and got that it was short like Twitter. But to be honest, I guess I did think it originally might have started with actual tweets published altogether here for ease and for those who don’t use Twitter. (HOW can you NOT use Twitter??)
I was about to type, “That’s my two cents anyway” and then I thought — Hey, Two Cents! Like $0.25 words… Cheap and short.
I also like “Book Reports.”
(Yes, the Twitterature thing was confusing. I, too, thought they were actual tweets, and I don’t use Twitter, so I never linked over to the reviews!)
I like Book Reports because it reminds me of teachers and librarians (Anne has a card catalog). 🙂 I also like Book Bites because she likes to cook. But then there’s the P&P angle. But then Elizabeth shot down Darcy’s idea of an accomplished woman. What *would* the Modern Mrs. Darcy call such a thing??

I have no helpful suggestions, but I think renaming this is a good idea, because when I first happened across your blog, I was a little confused by the name and how it related to Twitter!
Improving our minds with extensive reading? teehee.
I like shorter reviews but it’s hard with some books to get your thoughts and feelings out in just a couple of sentences.

How about “Drive-Through Reviews”. They’re short and convenient, like a drive through line is supposed to be.
ditto on the renaming. I’ve always been a bit confused about twitterature. though I though the name was clever, I was never quite sure what it meant or what was going on. I’d love to join the book review link up sometime.

How about “Short and Sweet Book Reviews” because “So Many Books, so Little Time” is probably too long but that is how I feel when I read the reviews. And I agree with all of the comments about thinking this was a Twitter thing…

I guess I’m the oddball. I love “Twitterature” because it’s such a clever play on words. And I don’t even do Twitter. I’m sure whatever you choose to rename it will be clever, too.

I like BOOK BITES (or BITS)– whatever seems to fit best!
I like Quick Lit. The mention of book reports also made me think of Disney’s Last-Minute Book Reports (if you haven’t seen them you need to), and I was thinking about some spin on that, like “One-Minute Book Reports” or even “30-Second Book Reports.”
I like Quick Lit, but what about Book Blasts? Or Book Blurbs? I Love the idea and I’ve already gotten recommendations from it.

I was going to suggest “Short N’ Sweet,” and see several others have. However, I also like the suggestion of Book Bites.
I really like “Twitterature.” It sounds geeky and classy and smart.

I liked Twitterature also even though I don’t use Twitter either. I think my favorite so far is Quick Lit. It doesn’t have any overtones or suggestions of anything confusing, and it gives the general idea—quick synopses of books and suggestions for more along those lines. (haha) I had thought Synopse….or Snack Size Servings maybe too. No matter what it’s named, it’s one of my very favorite features!
I immediately thought of Book Bytes, and reading through the comments that seems like a popular choice! Or maybe something like Lit Wit? I’m racking my brain for something Austen-esque — along the lines of “I’d infinitely prefer a book” but can’t come up with anything snappier. Whatever you choose, this will always be one of my favorite features, Anne!
I’ve always loved Twitterature. But Quick Lit isn’t bad… As long as it isn’t Kwik Lit. 😉

I haven’t been able to come up with a name myself, but I like Book Reports.
I like Book Reports also – feels scholarly so I approve lol although I loved Twitterature and the permission to use hashtags for no reason!
How about a take off of Mr. Darcy’s words, “You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you”….? Something like, “Allow me to tell you…”

I need to link up sometime, but I’ve always done my reviews at the beginning of the month and would have to change! (Gasp!). Or link to an old post, I guess? (Is that legit??). I have liked browsing through the linkup posts, though. I think I like talking books just as much as reading them.
Suggestion: Lit Lite? Lite Lit? (Not sure how many people would have a problem with the spelling of “lite” – but “light” makes it sound like easy reading rather than the length of the reviews.)
I do really like Quick Lit and Book Bites also. Twitterature was clever but it took me a few months of regular reading around here to “get it” – I agree with changing the name!
The Book Revue is what came to my mind. Thanks for the explanation. I could do a better job of being prepared for it and actually participate.
Another fan of your site who thought those posts had something to do with Twitter, which I prefer to not use. I’m excited to start participating. I like Book BItes, as those posts are a bit like a literary aperitif, whetting our appetite for the actual books.

Just read your newsletter and so excited to know about your monthly book review link up….I will be joining in because that is one of my new blog posts I plan on doing for 2015!!! I’m in two book clubs and have also set a goal to read one health related book a month to showcase and review on my blog. Looking forwarding to linking up in January.
