My favorite finds from around the web:
• Ann Patchett on stealing stories, book tours, and staying off twitter. “Most of the things in this book didn’t actually happen, but the feelings are very close to home. Or, as my mother said, “None of it happened and all of it’s true.”
• My birthday list—20 things I learned this year. Summer reading, saltwater sandals, internet breaks, creativity.
• 6 things we need to do if we love blogs and podcasts. “The truth is, as consumers, we need to do more. Or we’re going to lose a lot of what we love.”
• 11 delightful tales set in our favorite place—bookstores!
To listen:
I was on The Global Mom Show this week talking … books, of course. Head here to listen.
On the blog:
• One year ago: 9 campus novels that will totally make you want to go back to school.
• Two years ago: Say it like you mean it. “Say it with confidence, because if you don’t sound confident, why will anybody believe what you say?”
• Three years ago: The single most effective question to ask yourself for better decision making.
Have a great weekend!

Ah I love Ann Patchett. And thanks for the new blogs to follow!
I always love lists about how to help other bloggers out. Penelope’s list is so perfect. I read a lot of blogs, and I don’t always comment or share when I link something, but I need to be better about that.
Love love love that post about helping out bloggers and podcasters. So perfect. Thanks for sharing it!
Great links! I am an Ann Patchett fan and now I have Commonwealth to look forward to. And who doesn’t like a new list? I have taken a summer blog break too, but I think I might be ready to return. You reminded me that I so enjoy that blog process… 🙂 blessings to you and yours.
Love that list on how to help blogs and podcast. Such simple things, but things that even I need to be better about.
Thanks for sharing the links – I really liked the one on things to do if you like blogs and podcasts. I don’t always comment here but I’m a recent reader and really enjoy your blog.
