Earlier this month we did the first ever MMD reader survey. I knew the survey would be useful, but I wasn’t expecting reading through the responses to be so much fun! I thought you all might like to know more about who reads Modern Mrs Darcy, based on the 219 survey responses:
In response to “Is there a topic I haven’t covered on MMD that you wish I would? What is it?” a few of you said…
It might be nice to have some guest bloggers talk about raising kids who are a little older–I’m dealing with a boy becoming a teen!
Could you do a post on teaching manners to children, with a special section for what’s expected in the South?
I’ve always wondered more about what you do with your kids, like crafts or games.
I would like to see more of a mentoring approach for younger women (like me!)
In response to “Do you have anything else you’d like to share?” a few of you said…
Love the posts about what things your family does ie….the Lego post and summer reading for the kids….often times it sparks a great idea and we moms need all the “spark” we can get!
I find your insights to be so helpful, especially because you seem to be fiercely passionate about your family, and yet you have not lost your individual passions.
I really like your blog, because outside the internet we’d (likely) never be friends or acquaintances. Your blog allows me to respectfully know about how people different to me think and see the world (I come from an agnostic – atheist home), and while I don’t engage in comments or discussions because I don’t think it would help, I like to read them. Yours is a nice, friendly and polite corner of the internet, and it’s much appreciated by this reader.
I love reading and discussing life-challenges. I feel like it is unfair that everyone has to do the same missteps trying to answer typical challenges, when easy answers could get us away. It’s like we all know the problem, but the solution stays hidden. 🙁
I realized while reading through the responses that I wish I’d asked whether or not you were married. I didn’t ask that, but this week on the MMD facebook page I did ask the married ladies how old they were when they tied the knot. The survey’s closed, but you can still read the 77 answers to that question—and answer it yourself–over on the MMD facebook page.
Thanks so much for reading, and for being a part of this great community!

Ha! In age and gender I am in the distinct minority. At least I joined the crowd by having kids!
Tim
P.S. If you want a guest post on raising kids as they get older, just let me know.
It wouldn’t be the same around here without you Tim!
Tim, I might take you up on that one 🙂
I’m from the second oldest age group. I have to get on fb more.
Anne, I wasn’t able to take part in the survey ( tent camping w/ NO online access), but it looks like I fall into the majority.
What else would I like to know about MMD readers? I would LOVE to read about a typical day in each of their lives! How do they make time for both the urgent and the important things?
I was inspired by the “Day in the Life” post you wrote a few weeks ago. Now I want to know more!
Adriana, I’ve been thinking that would be a fun carnival idea for the future! (I think that’s been on my mind because you suggested it!)
🙂 Oh goodie!
