It’s hard to believe but it’s been many years since I last talked about swimwear here. Part of that must be that a good swimsuit can last for years, which is why I choose mine carefully. Today I’m sharing a few of my own swim favorites straight out of my closet, plus a few I’m eyeing as I look to add another suit or two to enjoy wearing in the season to come.
I hope you enjoy this peek at the swimsuits, cover-ups, and rashguards in my closet and on my wishlist right now.
I’ve always loved the graceful look of a wrap style or tie-front swimsuit. I own this Summersalt suit and love it. It’s comfortable and classic and always garners so many compliments.
How do you feel about the one shoulder trend? I’m a fan, myself, plus I can never resist a Rifle Paper Co. collaboration! This suit is ADORABLE. This swimsuit makes me think wistfully of my junior prom dress. (I know it was the 90s but trust me when I say it was completely gorgeous and you would swoon if you saw it today.)
You can’t go wrong with a tank style. I personally love a low-backed suit (perhaps because that’s always what I had as a teen, and the style imprinted on me forever?), especially when there’s a fun criss-cross feature. I also really love that it has bust support with removable cups. Andie has other variations, like this cross-back one. The Ralph Lauren suit is a great fit in cute colors but I wish the back was lower. This cheerful floral style isn’t pictured above but is fantastic.
For something more daring, a plunge or V-neck is the way I like to go. I love the look of this front but prefer a lower back so this suit isn’t tops on my list, but maybe it belongs on yours? J. Crew puts out beautiful swimsuits and this popular style has especially beautiful colors and long torso options. This seersucker suit makes me nostalgic—I had one just like it when I was a teen! This Target suit is adorable and has great reviews. I love the orange.
A good cover-up should be easy to wear, easy to wash, and feel comfortable over a dry or damp suit. There are so many cute traditional options out right now! I recently bought the one from Target above and think it’s even cuter in person.
If you’re not feeling a traditional cover-up, try a shirt or shirt dress, like this gingham beach shirt coverup or this cover-up shirtdress. You also can’t go wrong with an old button-down from your own (or someone else’s) closet!
I’ve worn a rashguard for years. I have super sensitive skin: sensitive to the sun, and sensitive to sunscreen. That’s why I always stake out a shady spot and wear a rashguard when I’m in the sun. (And a big floppy hat as often as possible!)
