Good stuff to ease you into that weekend frame of mind

What’s in store for your weekend? We have big plans around here, with lots of theater and visiting family and (I imagine) the new Taylor Swift album playing nonstop. I hope you have something to look forward to these next few days, and that this collection of interesting reads and favorite things helps ease you into that weekend frame of mind.

My favorite finds from around the web:

  • I’m in My Costume Era. R. Eric Thomas had me from the first line: “Let me tell you about my Emily Dickinson wallpaper. “

Behind-the-Scenes of WSIRN Episode 351: Book Club Favorites: LIVE from Bookmarks!

So many of you have said this week’s special episode of What Should I Read Next was balm for the soul. My conversation with TJ Klune, Andrew Sean Greer, Brendan Slocumb, and Tia Williams went in very unexpected places (to say the least!). Their stories had readers laughing one minute and crying the next. I’m so glad we could share it with you. (Photo credit: @bookstagramETC)

Have a great weekend!

Taylor Swift is young, beautiful, and earned the accolades. My brother is oldish (but my youngest brother) and grayish but he too is in the Nashville Songwriter’s Association Hall of Fame. I bring it up whenever possible. His name is Mark D Sanders.

This comment makes me really happy as a mom <3 I'm hoping my children love their siblings when they're oldish and grayish enough to brag about them just like you!

Oh my goodness, Kris! I recognized your brother’s name and when I looked him up, I realized why- he’s written some of my favorite songs. If he were my brother, I’d bring him up whenever possible, too. Such a talent!

I didn’t even know there was a Swedish film version of A Man Called Ove! Love this book and will be watching that tonight, then waiting happily for the Tom Hanks movie.

Wow, you hit it out of the park with this week’s Links I Love! I read and enjoyed nearly all the articles! But the best was the trailer of A Man Called Otto—I had no idea they were going to change the name to Otto, and I had wondered if your blurb was a mistake…But it looks SO EXCELLENT! The speakers on my computer aren’t working, but I could track every single scene in the trailer. Tom Hanks makes anything good, but this story was good already, so what a double-whammy! Thank you for letting me know about it.

You should head to Hurricane Mill, it’s a pretty awesome place. I love that she spent her last years there while tourists like me wandered around her gorgeous surroundings. It was kind of her to share.
