I hope you have a lovely weekend in store. As for me, I’m organizing the book stacks in my office and photographing a new project, two projects that will pair well with my lengthy list of audiobooks I hope to listen to soon.
My favorite finds from around the web:
- How Clean, Really, Do Our Kitchens Need to Be? Helpful guide.
- The Reading List Behind ‘Nice White Parents.’ Have you listened to this new podcast from Serial yet? I’m hearing great things.
- My family is in love with this cinnamon almond butter.
- Public libraries have been vital in times of crisis – from conflict to Covid-19. And we are so thankful for their service.
- How Mahogany Books adapted to the pandemic and racial justice movement. Great profile of this Black-owned indie bookstore in DC.
- It’s Time to Radically Rethink Online Book Events. This is something the MMD team talks about a lot, especially as we continue our Stay At Home Book Tour events. (I’m chatting with Sonali Dev about Recipe for Persuasion on Tuesday!)
- I’m contemplating this wall art for our guest room. (I just realized that we’ve lived here 3+ years and many of the walls are still bare, yikes!)
- On Jane Austen’s Politics of Walking. “Walking—a way to be yourself that is also a way to pay attention—is a continual integration of experience.”
- Forgiving Design vs. the Forgiveness of Slow Speeds. This fascinated my inner urban planner.
- 11 Groundbreaking Nature Books That Were Written By Women. This pairs well with this post: 14 books about nature to inspire your next outdoor adventure.
Don’t miss these posts:
- Ruby red sangria. This sangria hack is too simple not to try.
Have a great weekend!

I’ve been really fascinated by urban planning – all of the details that go into what makes a street walkable or shopper friendly, and thinking about how what I learn actually looks in my town. We’re not doing great, but we’re trying to do better! A fun read on the subject is ‘101 Things I Learned in Urban Design School’ by Three Rivers Press. I had a blast reading this to my husband on a car trip! Thanks for sharing the link to StrongTowns – can’t wait to poke around more!
I need to look that up, thank you for sharing!
Librarians are putting themselves at risk every day so people can copy recipes.
Thanks for the reading list from “Nice White Parents.” As an educator, I owe it to my students to be informed and read this list.
Just listened to Nice White Parents. THANK YOU … so good, it is a hard listen for this empty nester as it really hit home. I appreciated the research and history she presented and I am saddened that not much has changed in 40+ years. Now … off to read/listen/learn more and definitely VOTE!!!
This is always one of my favorite weekly blog posts! I scour the links over the weekend, sharing them with others. Thank you for your time in creating and sharing insightful, inspiring and interesting articles and ideas. I love it!
Thank you for the link to ‘how clean do our kitchens need to be?’. I have always struggled with maintaining any kind of a house cleaning schedule. Through that link I arrived at Clean My Space. And where has SHE been all my life? Plus her husband’s Honey Do List videos are hilarious. Her YouTube videos look informative, inspirational, maybe even life-changing ! So again — thank you!
Thank you for all the links, always interesting and informative…especially the Nice White Parents podcast..!
