Links I love

Hello and happy Friday! We made it through another week around here. I’m planning my weekend around watching Harry Potter #6 with my daughter and walking Daisy between the forecasted rain showers. And of course, I’ve got a nice stack of books that “need” my attention. I hope you have a lovely weekend in store.

My favorite finds from around the web:

  • My friends Maile Silva and Shawn Smucker are organizing a free book club for kids (ages 12 – 16) that will run for six weeks. You can get more info and sign up here.

Don’t miss these posts:

  • 6 favorite independent bookstores. Normally I’d be making plans for Independent Bookstore Day but it’s postponed this year. At least we can still buy from indie bookstores online!
  • My first year with the bullet journal. A look back at what I learned, why it works for me, my favorite supplies, how I use it (and how I’ve tweaked it), and a few of my favorite tips and tricks.

Have a great weekend!

If you’ve not yet tried Supergoop sunscreen products, put them on your list. I love the mineral sunscreen products for my very sensitive skin!

What a great article on Weird Al! I’ve seen him in concert twice and often, as a kid, knew the lyrics to his version of a song better than the original. Our go-to Christmas album growing up was Dr. Demento (who I’ve also seen perform). I would love to see Lin-Manuel Miranda’s lip sync performance from 6th grade! 😂

Anne, are you ordering the Wonders in Bloom (That’s what comes up when I hit the link) or…the I’d Rather Be Reading puzzle?

Oh, my gosh! All I want to do is click on the links, and then their links, and then their links. Forget @home learning today! Anne has given fun heart delights!

My partner got me that puzzle for my birthday in March and I finished it over Easter weekend. It is SO beautiful and was actually (in my opinion) the perfect amount of challenging without being so frustrating that I wanted to give up. Highly recommend!

  6. Hey, Anne! Wonderful links, as always! Thanks! I’m finding it kind of ironic that you picked that puzzle. Although it fits your aesthetic to a ~t~, there is another “style” puzzle by that same puzzle maker called “I’d Rather Be Reading.” The name alone screams Anne. 😉

Hi Anne, I am professionally trapped in Covid land for the foreseeable future. I am always greatly cheered by your the WSIRN and MMD emailings. Thank you!

I loved the interview with Robin Sloan on the book “Sourdough,” especially as I’ve been gifted with a little starter of my own and my husband freaks out every time I tell him I’m “feeding” the starter! Ha! This was a great, upbeat collection of links, and just what I needed today. Thank you!

So funny! I ordered the Sephora Sun Safety Set last week and it’s being delivered today. Although it seems like we just can’t get the sun to shine this spring here in Wisconsin.

  10. So interesting about the delayed book releases. We had a call this week about The Good Luck Stone and are (for now) sticking with the 7/7 publication date. It’s difficult to know what to do…

Just to relax I’m listening to Jim Dale’s Harry Potter. I’d read them all but this is a new experience. So fun and I’m watching each movie again as I finish!

I would have never read that article on Weird Al…thanks for sharing! I was so pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed.

    Hi Anne,

I just started reading your book “I’d Rather Be Reading” and found out that you have a blog. As a blogger myself it delights me 🙂 Anyway just dropping to say Hi and that I love the book. I can’t wait to finish it so I can read the other two books.
