I wish I could remember what led to the big Leon Uris kick I went on in high school! I loved this book then; I hear it holds up and would be curious to see for myself. This sweeping historical fiction epic examines three generations of a family living in 19th century Ireland. Their day-to-day lives are set against a backdrop of Catholic-Protestant hatred and violence, imperialist British rule, famine, love, and danger.
