What are you up to this weekend? I’m organizing books and working on a writing project, and hopefully sneaking in a walk between bouts of rain. I’m also hoping to make some serious progress on this great audiobook.
My favorite finds from around the web:
- 20 of the Best Books to Pick Up This March. Any of these on your radar?
- Passion can be platform. “Your passion is you, and that’s what readers want.”
- My first book Reading People is on sale for $1.99 across all ebook platforms right now. Get it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, or wherever you get your ebooks.
- The Invisibility of Older Women. “Going unrecognized can, paradoxically, help us recognize our place in the larger scheme of things.”
- Now feels like a good time to share this list of 20 books featuring seasoned female protagonists.
- When I made this crispy oven pulled pork this week my kids said to give it ten stars.
- The Publisher Who Transformed the Careers of Wallace Stevens and William Carlos Williams. Fascinating.
- Vaccinated Americans, Let the Unmasked Gatherings Begin (but Start Small). “Vaccinated grandparents may visit unvaccinated healthy adult children and healthy grandchildren without masks or physical distancing.” This is the news we’ve been waiting for. I’m counting the days till my mom gets her second dose later this month.
- Annapurna To Adapt Sarah Gailey’s Novel ‘The Echo Wife’ For Film. This sounds so watchable and also … pretty grisly? I’m curious! (I really enjoyed the book.)
- I’m so happy this reading nook tea blend is now available in decaf.
- Talia Hibbert Thinks We All Deserve a Chance to Find Love. “Real life is so risky that dreaming of unqualified happiness with another person or people can sometimes feel impossible, or even dangerous. So maybe romance is the song we sing to keep the faith, and “happily ever after” is our dogma.”
- These 30-Minute Dinners Are Just Right for Spring. Bookmarking this!
Don’t miss these posts:
- 20 extra-long and totally readable books. In case you’ve been wanting to tackle a looooong book.
- Behind the scenes of the Don’t Overthink It writing process. Everything you ever wondered, plus lots of pictures.

Of women and salt and Klara and the sun both look pretty interesting to me.
Enjoyed the list of 20 Best Books of March 2021… The Performance by Claire Thomas is definitely going on my TBR. Such an interesting premise.
And what a lovely reminder that your passion is you! Thank you for that!
‘Passion can be Platform’ was a great read! As someone who owns a small business, I often feel the overwhelm of having to be on all social media platforms when I’d rather not be on any. :/ Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE Plum Deluxe(their products, customer service and community are all absolutely top notch) teas and decaf Reading Nook is one of my absolute all time favorites!
I am currently reading Becoming Better Grownups: Rediscovering What Matters and Remembering How to Fly. I am loving it! It is a fun and powerful read; full of hope. I think you and your readers would enjoy it.
The Passion is Platform article is something I struggle with often lately. I am an introverted photographer who isn’t photographing at the moment because I’m going through IVF, which I am not willing to publicly share now or maybe ever. Paired with the Groundhog Day nature of life over the last year, I feel like I have absolutely nothing to post. But maybe I do? Maybe it’s the books I read and my cats and the mess of my office and quick stories of me pouring a tea? I know for me, I tend to be a big picture thinker and struggle with breaking things down into minute details, but those are the posts I admire the most on Instagram…the ones where people make pouring a tea and going for a walk and doing a little reading look like the most delightful possible things a person could ever choose to do. The article was great food for thought and wonderful permission fo just BE.
Anne, I hate to ask this because these posts are so interesting and you are such a hard-worker and a blessing, but is it possible for you to note when a link is to a publication with a paywall? Sometimes I click on a link to check it out to see if I’m interested, and maybe I decide it’s not something I want to read, but then I have “wasted” one of my free articles to The Atlantic or the NYTimes or something. If there’s a reason that you choose not to, I respect that; I just thought I would throw it out there in case it’s possible. 🙂
Will the Battle of the Books event be taped? Are past year “battles” available for viewing online?
