Swan Song

Well, folks, this is it: Hilderbrand’s last Nantucket novel. She goes out with a bang in her own “swan song,” introducing a super-rich couple who move to the island and upend the social scene over the course of one eventful summer. In the opening pages, their mansion burns to the ground and their assistant goes missing, then we go back in time to find out exactly what happened—and to learn whose lives have been transformed, and how, by what transpired. You can start here, but longtime readers will recognize so many characters, locations, and plot points from previous books. There’s a rich texture to Hilderbrand’s Nantucket: I googled food, wine, yachts, perfumes, local landmarks, and so many books.
