It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a modern woman in possession of a good thought must be in want of a blog.

Anne Bogel is an author, the creator of the blog Modern Mrs Darcy®, and host of What Should I Read Next? podcast and Modern Mrs Darcy Book Club.

Her most recent book is My Reading Adventures: A Book Journal for Kids. The process of journaling, the activities, and book lists will support the kids in your life (target age range: 8-12) as they grow into even more adventurous and eager readers.

My Reading Life: A Book Journal was designed by a book lover for book lovers. It’s the ideal companion for all your literary adventures.

Don’t Overthink It: Make Easier Decisions, Stop Second-Guessing, and Bring More Joy to Your Life is for anyone who is  stuck in a cycle of what-ifs, plagued by indecision, or paralyzed by the fear of getting it wrong.

I’d Rather Be Reading: The Delights and Dilemmas of the Reading Life explores the way our books shape, define, enchant, and even sometimes infuriate us. It’s the perfect gift for any bibliophile and will command an honored place on the (overstuffed) bookshelves of any book lover.

Reading People: How Seeing the World Through the Lens of Personality Changes Everything digs into Anne’s experience with the personality frameworks she loves the most and walks you through 7 different frameworks, explaining the basics in a way you can actually understand.

Modern Mrs Darcy®, which derives its name from a Jane Austen book, is a lifestyle blog for nerds who appreciate Anne’s modus operandi of approaching old, familiar ideas from new and fresh angles. While Modern Mrs. Darcy® isn’t strictly a book blog, Anne writes frequently about books and reading. Her book lists are among her most popular posts. She is well known by readers, authors, and publishers as a tastemaker. In 2016, she launched her podcast What Should I Read Next?—a popular show devoted to literary matchmaking, bibliotherapy, and all things books and reading. Her second podcast One Great Book launched in 2019. She also helps people learn to read better, together in Modern Mrs Darcy Book Club.

Anne lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with her husband, four children, and a yellow lab named Daisy.

My Podcasts

What Should I Read Next? grew out of a blog post series I did called literary matchmaking. I’ve now been matching books for over two years by asking people three books they love, one they hate and what they are reading now.

Consistently ranked as one of iTunes top arts podcasts, we’re approaching ten million downloads.

One Great Book is my new short-form podcast where each week I pull one stand-out selection off my personal bookshelves and tell you all about it, in ten minutes or less.

On What Should I Read Next? I’m making recommendations for what my guest will love. This one is super fun because these are all books I love.

    Hello!
How much would it cost to run a 30 second ad on your “What Should I read Next” podcast? It can be prerecorded or read by the host.
    Thank you,

    Anne,

My father recently passed away and I am looking for light, uplifting or happy reads. Do you have a post on recommendations that might meet this criteria when one is in pain and needs lighter material to carry a gal through and keep her mind of heavy and hard times? Maybe you’ve already put together a list of reads that fall in this category and I’ve missed it? My hurting heart needs a breather from harsh circumstances, please.
