Morning rituals and getting kids to help clean.

I’m a fan of anything that makes my life easier, or cheaper, which is why I’m a huge fan of the household goods subscription service Grove Collaborative. Today I’m sharing a special offer so you can try ePantry for yourself at a big discount plus get a free product.

Grove is similar to Amazon’s Subscribe and Save program (which I love), but focuses on high-quality, eco-friendly household goods. It’s a high-touch San Francisco-based startup that prides itself on amazing customer service and the fact that nearly half its staff are female, which is a big deal in Silicon Valley.

They offer discounted prices on high quality, environmentally-friendly brands like Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, Method, Yes to Carrots, Tom’s of Maine, Seventh Generation, and more.

We’ve received a monthly box from ePantry since we first signed up last October, and they’ve been an absolute delight to do business with. I’ve been so impressed at the quality and consistency of their products, the helpfulness of their staff, and by just how darn easy and pleasant the whole process is. (If I realize we need to order, say, more baby shampoo, my 8-year-old knows how to add that to our next shipment. It’s that easy.)

I made an accidental discovery around the time of our second or third shipment: my kids like getting to choose which products and scents we use in our home, and if they get to choose, they’re much more likely to be enthusiastic about cleaning. This was a revelation.

Now if my kids want to try a cleaning product from Grove, I’m on board. If they choose the products, they will scrub floors (with Method’s almond-scented cleaner), wash dishes (they love the pop-up sponges), and clean windows (with glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth). They do a pretty good job, and they never get sneezing fits like they used to back in our days of using Target’s non-environmentally-friendly products.

Grove is also fun to interact with (and I don’t say that a lot). Like their chat feature: many businesses have live chat help, but how many give you a discount for answering questions like “what’s on your summer reading list?”

After six months of using their service, I definitely have my favorite items: we always order Method foaming hand soap, Method hardwood floor cleaner, Seventh Generation’s natural laundry detergent powder (gentle enough for my girls with ultra-sensitive skin), Yes to Carrots baby shampoo (I use it for my hand washables), Method Smarty dish tabs, and ePantry’s Grove Collaborative soy candles.

Candle with Grove tree

Candles are part of my morning ritual—I always light one when I sit down to write in the morning—and I love Grove’s candles. They’re 100% pure soy wax plus essential oils, which means they burn clean, unlike the more common paraffin candles. (I was dismayed when I realized a few years ago that my old favorite brand’s candles released toxins when burned. Google it.)

ePantry’s Grove Collaborative candles are my favorite: the 8 ounce candles burn for 70 hours, come in adorable reusable mason jars, and are available in 4 scents. (I like the eucalyptus + spearmint for the kitchen, and blood orange for my office.)

If you’ve never tried Grove, place your first order and receive these 4 items for free, through March 22:

• Mrs Meyer’s spring hand soap (in your favorite scent—we love the lilac)
• Mrs. Meyer’s spring dish soap (in your favorite scent)
• Grove Collaborative glass spray bottle
• Grove Collaborative walnut scrubber sponges

Here’s how it works:

1. Sign up for an account through this link. You’ll get those four free items automatically added to your cart.

2. Answer a few quick questions about your household. (This took me sixty seconds.)

3. Depending on your answers, Grove will auto-fill your cart with a selection of their most loved and popular items. You can go with it or edit as much as you want. But don’t forget to choose your favorite scents!

5. To get the free products, your out-of-pocket needs to total at least $20. Check out and you’re done.

6. Already hooked on Grove? Use this link to get a beautiful and FREE Grove glass spray bottle valued at $10.95.

If you have any questions at all, use Grove live chat feature. Their customer service team is wonderful.

I’m so happy to share this deal with you. If you’re interested, don’t wait—the free spring cleaning kit is only available through Tuesday, March 22 at 9:00 p.m. EST or until the kits are gone. They won’t last—don’t miss out!

Happy shopping!

I don’t buy a lot of household cleaning products because vinegar+ baking soda+ dish soap can cover nearly all manner of sins, but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Mrs. Meyers products! The lemon verbena and basil cleansers, especially.

This is brilliant! I usually try to stick to lemon vinegar but… I am a sucker for good scents, even though I know they aren’t the best for the family. I can see this keeping me out of the money drain that is Target. You know the drill… head to Target for shampoo and come out $100 poorer and a cart full of stuff.

  3. I’m SO on the fence about signing up! I’ve heard great things about ePantry, but I just don’t need to re-order that much stuff because I’m a big fan of Norwex products. (All their stuff cleans and disinfects using only water, and their cloths are reusable, so there’s nothing to replace.) The only thing that *might* send me over the edge is that all-natural laundry powder. I’m making my own right now, and I’d love to free up the time I spend mixing a new batch every few months.

We have a few Norwex products so I get that. The laundry powder is awesome though. (They also have Mrs Meyers basil scented which is pretty amazing.)

    • This if funny. Just clicked over to Anne’s to see how her post today was driving traffic to my site! I actually heard about this book because of a review Anne did sometime last year. It really is amazing.

I wrote about my favorite products from ePantry AND the ones I tried but don’t like. I initially resisted joining because they don’t carry a lot of the green products we use and love, but I ended up deciding it would be a good way to try some new things.

Method soap foamers are excellent. They last years longer than the soap that comes in them. ePantry sells Method refill soap, but they also work with Dr. Bronner’s liquid castile soap, which I love for its pleasant natural scents, eco-credentials, and high concentration (low cost per use)!

This is great, thanks for sharing that link. I never would have thought about the dog thing, cracked up at the locaine powder, and put some of the method antibac bathroom stuff in my cart.

I signed up for ePantry when you first posted about it last fall, and I love it! I have new favorite cleaning products and love the service and options. This has been so great for our family!

  6. Angela says:

I love EPantry. I love Seventh Generation products and that’s why I initially joined. But I love the fact that I can give them ideas about what I would love to see in their lineup. I hope to one day see EO bath products as they are wonderfully organic and environmentally friendly. I buy them at Whole Foods but would love to have them shipped. I also love my Method wood floor cleanser. Never would have found that without EPantry. I was using Bona before. It was ok, but Method leaves my floors beautiful with a delicious almond scent.

I really like the idea of ePantry, and these are some great discounts you posted, so I tried it out. I’ve started burning the Grove Collaborative candle (the orange smells great!), but it makes most of my house smell like kerosene, except for about a foot from the candle. I’ve trimmed the wick. Am I doing something wrong? Or did I just get a dud?
