a lifestyle blog for book lovers

My favorite finds from around the web:

• Power Moves in Pantsuits: A Hillary Clinton–Inspired Flash-Mob Dance Party Takes Manhattan. This is tons of fun no matter your political affiliation. (I’m not sure whether to love or hate that I was in Union Square just two days after this!)

It looks like ebooks won’t kill print books after all. “Books have endured many technical revolutions and are in the best position to survive this one.”

Are book collectors real readers or just cultural snobs? “The contrast between an 18th-century woman reading a book and a teenager gazing at her smartphone illustrates the different ways we construct identity through reading.”

Map your emotions. 1. Your feelings, no matter what they are, are valuable. 2. You are OK. 3. You’re not required to smile.

On the blog:

One year ago: The tough love guide to planning ahead (if you’re not naturally a planner). 9 tips for all you P types: face the music, block schedule, pretend you run a magazine.

Two years ago: “The biggest thing separating people from their artistic ambitions…” … is not what you think it is.

Three years ago: Concrete changes I’ve made because of MBTI and enneagram insights. “I’m a fan of exploring personality types, because I’ve been able to channel what I’ve discovered about my strengths and my weaknesses into some very concrete, practical changes that have improved my relationships with others and the rhythm of my days.”

Four years ago: When I realized my own house was making me cranky.

Have a great weekend!

I work in a beautiful, brand new, used book store. People ask me all the time if our store does any business since “everyone’s switching over to e-readers”. Often times I’ll just ask them, “Have e-readers stopped you from buying books?” And they usually say, “No.”
😀 Books are here, forever. (For now.)

The more I read ebooks the more I buy paper books. I love my kindle and highlighting and taking notes as I read and looking up the translation etc etc … but for paper you can just open a loved book anywhere and get back in touch with your favourite people in a moment.
