a lifestyle blog for book lovers

What are you up to this weekend? It’s supposed to be cool and rainy here, which means great reading and baking weather. I’ll try and make the most of it.

My favorite finds from around the web:

  • Over the moon to see Jacqueline Woodson and N.K. Jemisin named 2020 MacArthur fellows. I cannot wait to read the works that emerge as a result of these well-deserved grants.
  • Does anyone else completely forget what’s in their cool-weather wardrobe during the warmer months? I totally forgot about these favorite jeans and I’ve been wearing them nonstop ever since I dug them out of the back of my closet last week.

Don’t miss these posts:

Have a great weekend!

Oh my gosh, you made me remember I had the SAME EXACT JEANS hidden in my closet. I just pulled them out and wearing them now! 🙂

Yes, I’m rediscovering winter clothes that I totally forgot I had, after only about 4 months! Crazy.
About the best Pride and Prejudice version, they are completely forgetting (and they are not alone) the 1985 BBC version with Elizabeth Garvie and David Rintoul! Everybody likes Colin Firth in the 1995 miniseries, but who likes Jennifer Ehle? I propose they combine the two and insert Elizabeth Garvie in the Colin Firth version, she was adorable! I just ordered a DVD of this old BBC version.

    Hello!
There is a company that puts together a lovely Advent calendar of books. They are carefully curated and beautifully bound.
I am fairly certain I read about it on this fantastic blog! Do you know what I’m speaking of?
    Thank you!
    Cathy

  4. Thanks for highlighting advent calendars! The West Elm one is on sale for $56 (orig price is $80) so I ordered one! Our son is 2.5 so I think he’ll be more into Christmas this year. Plus we are having a baby in early December so I want to make sure we do some extra things for Christmas so he doesn’t feel lost in the shuffle… and we’ll be spending Christmas w/o family due to COVID. 🙁 So I’m all about adding some special traditions to try to offset that…
