a lifestyle blog for book lovers

My favorite finds from around the web:

10 books that feel like fall. “This isn’t the season for beach reads and lighthearted romance; this is the season for darker, richer books you read by the fire with tea, and rain pelting the windows outside.”

30 Whole 30 snack ideas. We’re not currently Whole 30-ing around here, but I’m always up for new snack ideas.

Airports can be marvels (if you look at them the way a pilot does). “Whether you’re perched in a coffee bar or sailing along the moving walkway, airports are among the best places on earth to marvel at humanity.” (Via Melissa Joulwan, who shares all the good things in her excellent newsletter.)

What does your seltzer choice say about you? “Did you know that, in every can of seltzer, each bubble—like each snowflake that falls upon this special earth—is unique and particular and individual, but everyone who drinks a certain brand of seltzer is exactly the same?” I wrote a book about personality quizzes—both the serious and the silly—and could I resist this? No, I could not. (I am currently in a committed relationship with Sprindrift, and that person they describe is not me.)

A first:

I visited my local news station this week to talk about my book Reading People: How Seeing the World Through the Lens of Personality Changes Everything. I was not bursting with confidence, but the hosts were warm and welcoming (and funny, hallelujah) and that made all the difference. Watch the five-minute clip here.

Favorite instagram:

When your shoes match the foliage and both finally look like fall. (Follow me on instagram @annebogel.)

The details: snapped at 6:15am Thursday on a St Louis coffee run. Kaldi’s Coffee. Burgundy Tieks, because we swapped stories how different colors look and wear at our MMD New Orleans meetup. (My Tieks review is right here.)

On the blog:

One year ago: 15 audiobooks that enhance your reading experience.

Two years ago: 7 things keeping me sane this season (aka fall favorites).

Three years ago: There are four possible levels of relationship. Three years later, I still think about this one all the time.

Four years ago: A mentoring cheat sheet (for both sides of the relationship).

Five years ago: 5 books that make me feel like I’m not crazy.

Six years ago: The best book you’ve never heard of on … housekeeping.

Have a great weekend!

The TV spot was super fun to watch! Thanks for sharing that with us. (I’m loving the audio book, by the way!)

The picture documenting the shoes matching the foliage is brilliant and fun!
