a lifestyle blog for book lovers

Win a Kindle Paperwhite and a custom pencil pouch from Lucy Jane Totes.

Good news, readers. Today I’m giving away a Kindle Paperwhite and a custom pencil pouch from Lucy Jane Totes that you can carry it in.

This isn’t a book blog, but it’s a bookish community, and my goal is to make it easy for you to read more of what you want to read.

To help you do all this reading for less cash, I’ve been sharing daily Kindle deals on the blog since July 2014. Every morning I hand-select 5-7 new deals for the list: books I personally love, or books I think many of you will be interested in. I don’t accept paid placements for this list. Since September, you’ve been able to get them delivered straight to your inbox.

You don’t need a Kindle to read Kindle deals books, or any Kindle books: you can download Amazon’s Kindle app here and read Kindle books on most devices, including desktop computers, smart phones, and tablets.

But it’s nice to have a Kindle (and hey, it’s Christmas time) so today I’m giving away a Kindle Paperwhite to one subscriber on the Kindle deals list. (Current subscribers are automatically entered.)

The Paperwhite is snazzier than Amazon’s basic Kindles. You can hold it in one hand, charge it monthly (not daily), read it in bright sunlight, and read it before bed without disturbing your sleep. It’s built for reading: there’s no email, apps, or social media to distract you.

Lucy Jane Totes pencil pouches are one of my favorite things, and are perfectly sized to hold the Paperwhite (or your lipstick, notepaper, pencils, and pens). Shop owner Kim Vanslambrook created a custom arrow pencil pouch for the lucky winner: you can choose your color. (Visit the shop here to browse the options. There’s plenty for readers to love—and gift—this season.)

UPDATE: The giveaway is over. Thanks for playing!  This giveaway is good through Wednesday night, November 18, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be notified on Thursday. (Must be 18 or older; U.S. addresses only.)

Enter your email address here to enter the giveaway and get kindle deals in your inbox.

(If you have any trouble with this form, use the form on the MMD subscribe page instead to be entered in the giveaway.)

Good luck! I hope YOU win.

Oh my – I’d love to win this!! My beloved Kindle of 6 years passed away tragically on Friday and I’m in deep Kindle withdrawal. I am debating which one to buy if I don’t win! Paperwhite – Voyage – or a Fire??? I love your book suggestions and tips – I love everything about your blog.

I’d recommend the paperwhite. My husband bought me a Kindle fire and it’s great for movies but not so great for reading with the bright screen. Also, the battery runs out really fast when I used it traveling. Plus the kids are constantly using it so I never get to use it to read! I know, I know: first world problems.

I recommend the Paperwhite. The Voyage one has mixed reviews. Many Kindle lovers don’t think it’s worth the extra $$. The Paperwhite doesn’t have the tablet distractions and unlike a tablet, you can read it outside in the sun, or in bed without bothering the person next to you. It’s the closest in feel to a real book, IMO.

I am very excited by your offer as my Kindle has died and I had already downloaded new books I haven’t yet read. I have been looking at the Paperwhite and would like to try it. I am already subscribed to your blog BUT I cannot get any of your “Subscribe” buttons to work at any of the places you suggested we try. HELP!

Crossing my fingers — I’ve also had a vintage Kindle go to the great beach in the sky (at least, that’s where I imagine all the Kindle souls go) this year, and the Kindle app on my phone just doesn’t cut it.

I love reading your blog, I look forward to all of your new posts. Thanks for a great giveaway- I tried entering through the various methods that you mentioned, but I don’t believe it is working for me… Any ideas? Thanks!

Would love to win this! I have an OLD Kindle that is doing weird things ( losing my books, deleting some and turning off on its own all the time) and is probably on its last legs….I was actually looking last night on Amazon to see how much a new one would cost and what kinds are available. Mine is from year 2 of Kindle when it was the only one around…it still has the keyboard at the bottom! I have tons of books on mine…most from your recommendations. I got the Ed Cyzewski one from your non-fiction recommendations yesterday.

This is a great giveaway. I am currently looking for a reading tablet and the Paperwhite is on the top of my list. And on top of that…an awesome pouch to keep it in so that it is ready to travel to wherever I go. Thanks for this opportunity and even if I don’t win I love these pouches and will probably be getting one and maybe they will be great Christmas gifts.

Wonderful giveaway! My kindle went on the blink because my kiddos were using it! Sometimes I can read all night, need to set some time limits! Love the arrow case in the navy!

Oh wow, I’m already signed up for your kindle deals and have had my eye on a Paperwhite for a looong time. I have a Nook HD but the deals in the Nook store are, sadly, just not as good. Although I use the Kindle app on the Nook, I’m tired of the bright screen and distracting apps.

  9. Debbi says:

I would love this! I have a kindle fire but the kids are always stealing it and playing games, or draining my battery and then I can’t read my books! I am already subscribed to your email lists – I hope that this enters me, I can submit again if I need too.

  10. Sara K. says:

Oh I’ve loved those pouches ever since I first saw you post about them! Maybe Santa will put one in my stocking this year!

Thank you for diligently seeking out kindle deals for us! It’s like having a personal shopper for books 🙂

  11. Lori says:

Wonderful giveaway, thanks! I hope I’m signed up, need the Kindle Deals. When I signed up, my email said I was signed up for the newsletter, which I already was signed up for.

  12. Dawn says:

What a great giveaway. I have never had a Kindle or any tablet, so if I win it’ll be a really big deal! I’m doing a lot of reading this week as I recover from surgery. (surgery = 🙁 but extra reading time = 🙂

  13. Jennie K says:

I think I’m already signed up (I’m on the email list for the Kindle daily deals), but I thought I’d double-check. I have the original, 1st edition, boxy Kindle. When it came out, I actually had it insured (still do, just haven’t changed my policy) for the original cost of the Kindle. Anyone remember those days? $249 for the 1st version, and now they’re much better and yet less expensive! I still love my Kindle, though!
