The Bodyguard

A workaholic bodyguard falls for the hunky actor she’s paid to protect in Center’s swoony new read about finding love and mending fences. Hannah Brooks may look like a kindergarten teacher, but that’s just one reason she’s a sought-after executive protection agent. Reclusive but adored actor Jack Stapleton doesn’t want a bodyguard at all, and he definitely doesn’t want his ailing mother to know he needs protection from a stalker. But his manager insists. When he meets Hannah—and when she lays him flat on his back with her badass bodyguard skills—not only does he want to hire her, he wants her to pose as his girlfriend so no one will suspect a thing. Complications ensue. Happiness for Beginners remains my favorite, but with its endearing protagonists, adorable banter, winning sense of humor, and fun industry details for both leads, this one is piles of breezy fun. Closed door. For fans of Mikaella Clements and Onjuli Datta’s The View Was Exhausting and Annabel Monaghan’s Nora Goes Off Script.

Hang the Moon

A childhood crush sparks back to life in this adorable romance that draws inspiration from beloved rom-com movies. Darcy’s brother Brendon and best friend Annie star in this standalone story that picks up where Written in the Stars leaves off (though you can read in any order). Annie was Brendon’s childhood crush, but she just remembers him as a sweet, goofy kid. When they reconnect in Seattle as grown-ups, sparks fly—but to Annie, this relationship is unthinkable: you shouldn’t get involved with your bestie’s brother, plus she’s about to move for work—to London. But Brendon is a romantic at heart, and he’s determined to woo Annie by showing her that the true love on display in his favorite Seattle-based rom-coms is real—and is theirs for the taking. A happy and heartwarming reading experience. Heads up for a few lengthy open-door bedroom scenes.

Birds of California

From the publisher: “Former child actor Fiona St. James dropped out of the spotlight after a spectacularly public crash and burn. The tabloids called her crazy and self-destructive and said she’d lost her mind. Now in her late twenties, Fiona believes her humiliating past is firmly behind her. She’s finally regained a modicum of privacy, and she won’t let anything—or anyone—mess it up. Unlike Fiona, Sam Fox, who played her older brother on the popular television show Birds of California, loves the perks that come with being a successful Hollywood actor: fame, women, parties, money. When his current show gets cancelled and his agent starts to avoid his calls, the desperate actor enthusiastically signs on for a Birds of California revival. But to make it happen, he needs Fiona St. James. Against her better judgment, Fiona agrees to have lunch with Sam. What happens next takes them both by surprise. Sam is enthralled by Fiona’s take-no-prisoners attitude, and Fiona discovers a lovable goofball behind Sam’s close-up-ready face. Long drives to the beach, late nights at dive bars . . . theirs is the kind of kitschy romance Hollywood sells. But just like in the rom-coms Fiona despises, there’s a twist that threatens her new love. Sam doesn’t know the full story behind her breakdown. What happens when she reveals the truth?”
