As you may have suspected, I recorded a podcast recently with the lovely (and whip-smart) ladies at Brilliant Business Moms. The podcast focuses on mom entrepreneurs—bloggers, designers, shop owners, photographers, you name it—who are succeeding in online business (although you don’t have to be a mom to enjoy the show). We chatted about blogging, books, family schedules, revenue streams, inspiration, and origin stories.

I loved the sports show inspiration too. I’m not much of a sports fan, so whenever I find myself enjoying watching a sports show with my husband, I do tend to stop and analyze how they’ve hooked me– lots of great lessons there about delivering content in a concise and compelling way!
Thoroughly enjoyed the podcast! And in true work/life balance fashion, I listened while playing on the floor with my 7 month old 🙂 Your book helped me make the jump from full-time work to a part-time schedule that works for our family. Kudos, Anne!

I know you talked about it a little in the podcast, but I was wondering if you had any more thoughts on growing an authentic readership. My own blog is quite small, and I would love to reach out to more people. However, I don’t want more followers just to have more followers. Rather, I want people to come to my blog because they want to read my content and share their ideas. I know I probably don’t reach out as much or as often as I should across the vast social media space, and probably my content doesn’t appeal to the masses, but I would still be curious, now that you’ve had some time to think about it, if anything has come to mind that has been really helpful with building such loyal (and talkative) readers. Thanks so much.

I love listening to podcasts while I clean, it helps distract me. Loved listening to this today! I confess I am totally not business-minded when it comes to my blog and even freelance career. I feel like with having three kids in 4 1/2 years my mind is occupied on survival and helping them thrive right now. In a few weeks, my oldest will be in kindergarten and my middle in preschool three days a week, so I’m hoping I can at least devote the youngest’s naptime to getting work done and thinking about the future.
