Last week, I shared my favorite books of 2013. Today, it’s your turn to share yours!
Write a post sharing the best things you read in 2013. (It’s okay if they weren’t published in 2013.) If you’re one of those over-achieving bloggers who wrote separate posts for fiction and nonfiction, feel free to link up twice.
I can’t wait to see what you pick!

If you need a new book for the New Year, there are a couple good ones on sale right now:
- The Girl You Left Behind from JoJo Moyes, author of Me Before You, is $2.99 for Kindle.
- Ann Patchett’s first novel The Patron Saint of Liars is $2.51 right now. (I recommend reading this in conjunction with her Kindle single The Getaway Car.)
- And I don’t recommend picture books for Kindle, but this is the goofy picture book we’re loving right now (in hardback).

I will add my link on Sunday when my post goes by. The Girl You Left Behind was one of my best books of 2013. Like it better than Me Before You.
Good to hear! I enjoyed Me Before You, though it didn’t make my “favorites” list. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks for doing this. I can’t wait to hear some great book recommendations! I have purposely put off creating my to-read for 2014 list for today because I knew this was coming! 🙂
I’m honored. 🙂 Hope you find some terrific ones. I think your odds are pretty fantastic. 🙂
Yeah!! I can’t wait to add to my huge to be read list. We have a snow day here in NJ- what a perfect day to follow this post!
It’s 17 degrees outside and there’s snow on the ground, but I’ve got a hot cup of coffee and an hour to browse through all these links. I know what you mean. 🙂
Am I your only reader without a blog of my own? LOL I just looked at my goodreads and picked my top 8 books of 2013 (in no particular order):
Chop-Chop, LN Cronk (actually I read the whole series in 2013 and the whole thing was awesome)
Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore, Robin Sloane
When You Were Older, Catherine Ryan Hyde
Kisses From Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption, Katie Davis and Beth Clark
Schooled, Gordon Korman
What Alice Forgot, Liane Moriarty
The Great Train Robbery, Michael Crichton
Raising Vegetarian Children, Joanne Stepaniak (the best resource I found when Samuel decided to be vegetarian)
You’re definitely not the only one, and thanks for sharing your list! And thanks for the reminder about Chop Chop–it’s on my “books I keep meaning to read” list. 🙂
Ummmm, so just stumbled onto this and I wanted to let you know that it made me smile! Thank you, Jennifer!! (And Anne, I hope you will read it one day!) Many blessings to you both~Leeann
Ooh, it worked! I love it when I do technology correctly. Per my blog name, the list really is quite eclectic. XD
Thanks for hosting this link up, so fun to see what everybody loved to read. Thank you for the tip about JoJo Moyes books, I’ve heard so many great things and now I’m going to read The Girl You Left Behind. Happy new year!
Loved this idea! I’ll be reading the other lists to see what I should add to this year’s reading. =)
Thanks for sharing your list – and the link up. This gives me a slew of new books to add to my “To Read in 2014” list!
Thank you for all of the great book recommendations! I will be visiting all of the links over the next few days to add more titles to my never ending “to be read” list. I do not have a blog~~but I wanted to add two of my favorites from 2013. The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker & The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey. I was enchanted by both books and actually missed the characters after the stories ended.
I also don’t have a blog, but here’s my list (some of these are older books that I only just discovered):
— Waiting for Birdy, Catherine Newman (non-fiction)
— Code Name Verity, Elizabeth Wein
— Wonder, R.J. Palacio
— Killer Stuff and Tons of Money, Maureen Stanton (non-fiction)
— The Rosie Project, Graeme Simsion
— Brain on Fire, Susannah Cahalan (non-fiction)
I look forward to hearing everyone’s favourites, a few of my favourites were
Jojo moyes; me before you, and the girl you left behind.
Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn,
quiet -Susan Cane ( as per your recommendation)
the Cuckoo’s Calling -Robert Galbraith
I also don’t have a blog, although I’m thinking I may like to try to start one! I’m toying with the idea of it being one of my goals for 2014.
Here are my top 10 books (in no particular order):
1. Me Before You – JoJo Moyes
2. The Girl you Left Behind – JoJo Moyes
3. The Cuckoo’s Calling – Robert Galbraith
4. And the Mountains Echoed – Khaled Hosseini
5. How to Talk So Kids Will Listen, & Listen So Kids Will Talk – Adele Faber
6.What Alice Forgot – Lianne Moriarty
7.The House Girl – Tara Conklin
8.The Chaperone – Laura Moriarty
9.Still Missing – Chevy Stevens
10.Mudbound – Hilary Jordan
So many lists! I’m having a great time using frozen drizzle as an excuse to stay in and read all of these.
Thanks for doing this 🙂 I can’t wait to get some more book suggestions for 2014
