a lifestyle blog for book lovers

If you’re reading via email or a feed reader, you may need to click over to the blog for this one. (Thank you!)

Every year or so, we do this little reader survey to take the temperature of the blog. I did the first survey because I felt like I should … but then I had so much fun reading through your responses, I couldn’t wait to do it again.

I’m so glad it’s time for Annual Survey #3!

The first few questions are easy-breezy, check-the-box demographic questions that will bore you, but only for about 6 seconds. I’m asking because anybody who wants to know anything about this blog wants to know who’s reading it, and you are the ones who can best answer that question.

After that, I ask you questions that I’m straight-up curious about, and questions that will help me make sure the site is easy for you to visit.

The whole thing should take you 5 minutes or less.

Additionally, this blog is getting a makeover this fall. It won’t look a lot different, but it will be a lot more user-friendly. If there’s a feature you want to see on this blog (better archives searching, easy-access book lists, more category delineations) now is the time to tell me. Your responses will shape this site, so tell me what would make it easy for you to use.

The survey will be open for one week. When we’re all done, I’ll share some of the interesting answers here.

Thanks so much for your input! I appreciate it–and you!–so much.

(If the embedded survey gives you any trouble, please answer it here.)

Munich!? How fun. I’ve been there a few times. My husband and I were just talking the other night about one of our saddest travel stories: when we shipped out of there on the night train mere hours before Oktoberfest started. I’ve never been to the festival (even though we roamed the grounds the day before it began). Maybe if I HAD been I’d swear to never go back—I’m not sure what the locals think about their own Oktoberfest. 🙂

I’m here for about 3 years with my husband for his job; before this we were in Zurich for 8 years. I’ve only been to Oktoberfest once – when we were visiting from Switzerland. I have to say it’s worth seeing one time, but it is very difficult to get a table! We ended up outside one of the tents in a more beer-garden like setting and that suited me just fine. It’s noisy in those tents! I will be experiencing my first Oktoberfest as a resident next month. I’ll tell you how it goes 🙂

Hi, Susan! I remember all the thoughtful comments you posted when I read at A Quiet Life (Donna). Fun to see you here 🙂

I love your blog, but as your questions about kids do not match up to my family, I won’t be able to play this time. (5 kids, ages 6 – 18)

Oh no! Maybe I’m misreading my own survey. (Golly, I hope not!) But you should be able to check all the boxes that apply for the kids’ age range question. Let me know if you have any further trouble and I’ll do what I can to help. 🙂

Oy, I didn’t think about this when filling out the survey, but for those of us empty-nesters with grandkids, please don’t think we don’t welcome posts about reading with the kids and book recommendations for them! The tally on the number of kids in the house might suggest that we don’t still have them in our lives, but we do!

Thank you so much for your blog!! I found it several months ago and, as I put in the comments section of the survey, your blog stirred up my love for reading that had been dormant for years.

Because of MMD, I am currently reading “Pride and Prejudice” as well as “Tattoos on the Heart!” GREAT reads and am much happier now that my nose is back in books, where it belongs!!!
