Announcing: What Should I Read Next LIVE!

Announcing: What Should I Read Next LIVE!

Readers, I have fun news today. We are having a LIVE What Should I Read Next event, and soon!

Join us at The Novel Neighbor bookstore in St. Louis on Friday, April 7 for a special evening. The store is open all day; our event begins at 6:00 p.m.

Holland I will chat, then, following the same format as the podcast, we will randomly select three registrants to participate in the What Should I Read Next experience.

Tickets are FREE but space is limited so get yours now! Click here to register. (Get your books ready!)

For the out-of-towners: we have something fun for YOU! Holland will live stream the event on Facebook Live. Follow The Novel Neighbor on facebook so you’re ready.

This is going to be so much fun. I just can’t wait to meet you in person. Hope to see you there!

P.S. Don’t miss Holland’s two (!!) guest appearances on What Should I Read Next! These are two of our most-downloaded episodes. Listen to Episode 40 (Spouses of Readers Anonymous) right here. She also appeared in our gift guide episode, There’s nothing like a bookstore at the holidays, but I promise you it’s just as relevant in March (or July, or September!). Listen here.

Will the video version be made available for viewing afterwards here or via the book club? (Crossing my fingers!).

    • Anne says:

Facebook Live videos can be watched later, on facebook. I’m not sure if we’ll do anything else with the video. I do hope to record for a live podcast episode (although live event audio is tricky, so no guarantees …)

      • Susan says:

I’m not on Facebook, but sometimes you can still watch those FB Live videos (correct me if I’m wrong, somebody!), so hopefully we non-FB folks will still be able to watch!!

  2. Jennifer N. says:

I’m assuming we’ll also get to listen with the regular podcast format? I don’t have facebook (best thing I did for myself last year!). I also don’t mind missing the live event, but I do want to listen in later.

    • Jacelyn says:

      Ditto to everything!

I gave up Facebook a little over a year ago, too, and I love it! I try to convince other friends to do the same, but they think I’m nuts. Oh, well!

      • Jennifer N. says:

I love this! My best friend agrees that Facebook is the worst kind of anxiety crack and still will not hit that deactivate button, but she also has ridiculous amounts of FOMO. I’m also pretty sure it’s not a coincidence that I read much more since I’ve given up fb.

      • Rachel says:

I didn’t, but now I’m nervous about it! I registered pretty early after the announcement, so I thought I was okay. Did anyone else get a confirmation email?

        • Nancy Willard says:

I also registered very early the morning of the announcement email and filled out the form, but no confirmation.

          • Anne says:

Rachel, Nellie, and Nancy: rest easy! Holland sent me the list and all three of you are ON IT! She’s sending out an email with more details shortly.

Can’t wait to see you there!

  3. Nellie Bewley says:

    This is so exciting!
How do we know if our registration was successful? I got “We’ll be in touch” after I submitted the form. If I’m registered, my kids get to road trip to St Louis, MO for a weekend.

    • Anne says:

I’ll check in with Holland. We actually sold out the first round of tickets right away and did a little shuffling to make more room! I’m sure you’re good to go but double checking is not a bad thing. 🙂

      • Nellie Bewley says:

        Hey Anne,
Have you heard anything from Holland on registration confirmations?
I’d be driving in from Tulsa with kids. If my registration wasn’t successful, it’d be better to know now rather. than find out after we get there. 🙂

        • Anne says:

Nellie, since you’re a compulsive double-check I’m commenting twice with your answer! You’re on the list. Can’t wait to meet you in person!

          • Nellie says:

Thank you and thank you for humoring my compulsive nature. I’m looking forward to meeting you in person too!
My daughter (Lucy) told me to bring my book journal for you to sign. Then I could consider myself a *real fangirl*. 🙂

  4. Libby says:

I also got the cryptic “We’ll be in touch” message but am so delighted you’re coming to St. Louis! Lots of great little coffee shops all over the city if you’re looking for recommendations!

    • Anne says:

Heck yeah I’m looking for recommendations—fire away! (We stayed downtown last time and finding good coffee there was a challenge. I need help!)

      • Libby says:

There’s Northwest Coffee, on the east side of Forest park. Really cute little shop and multiple decaf options: http://www.northwestcoffee.com/our-coffee/
On the other side of Forest Park on the Delmar loop there’s Blueprint coffee, also a cute little shop. The Loop is a fun street with a lot of locally owned businesses, a soda brewery where you can watch the bottling line in action, a board game/comic book shop, and used bookstore. https://blueprintcoffee.com/
In the South City area I really like Hartford Coffee, it’s tucked away on a neighborhood corner. It’s very kid friendly too, with a whole play corner in the shop. I’m not a decaf drinker, but it looks like they have a good decaf selection as well. http://www.hartfordcoffeecompany.com/

        Hope these help!

      • Libby says:

Oh and this might be more recommendations that you’re looking for, but if you’re still looking for a hotel, the Cheshire Hotel in Clayton is really nice, and every room is themed after an author! My dad stays there when he visits me, and the excitement when he got the JRR Tolkien room once was nearly unbearable.

  5. Nicki says:

How did I miss this announcement and now its FULL? I am beyond sad! If you do choose to stay at the Cheshire, there is Kaldi’s coffee a nice 10 minute walk away through a cute tree-lined neighborhood.
Recently started listening to the podcast from episode 1 – on episode 25 – it is very charming and just delightful to listen to. The only downside is my TBR shelf is growing and growing and growing….
If any spots magically open up on that list please let me know!
