My favorite finds from around the web:
• Ann Patchett’s guide for bookstore lovers.
• 16 books from 2016 that all global citizens should read.
• The gift of laryngitis. I’ve been thinking about this all week. “Because I had laryngitis, I found myself touching my kids and hugging them more. I found them and went to them (instead of yelling across the house for them to come to me). I arrested their attention before speaking.”
• The best book covers of 2016.
Of note:
• The 2016 MMD Gift Guide for Book Lovers is here!
• Amazon has a discount code available, good through December 12, to save $5 on any book purchase. Details here.
On the blog:
• One year ago: 25 perfect gifts and stocking stuffers for the book lovers in your life.
• Two years ago: Gift guide for the Jane Austen fan.
• Three years ago: 10 unusual gifts for kids.
• Four years ago: What Alice Forgot and ugly relationship creep.
• Five years ago: The minimalist’s guide to stocking stuffers.
Have a great weekend!

Very Cute blog post!
Hope you are feeling better!
Anne Patchett left out The Tattered Cover bookstores in Denver, CO. One of the best, and most charming, indépendant bookstores in the west.
Thanks so much for the mention Anne 🙂
I love checking out book covers! Thanks for the link to the best of 2016.

You’ve inspired me to make a list of books I read this year (taken from my book journal, which I keep in alphabetical order by book title) AND even to give them some awards:
1. Book I Enjoyed the Most While Reading It: What Alice Forgot
2. Book That Tasted Best (in all ways): When Green Becomes Tomato
3. “Book” That Inspired Me to Buy the Most OTHER Books: “The Tempest” app on iPad.
I bought books by and about Shakespeare, books about ships, and books about the voyages of Capt. Cook.
4. Book that Made Me Ugly Cry: Boys in the Boat (but it may not affect everyone that way)
5. Books that Inspired my Puzzle Brain: Let the Great World Spin and Czar of Love and Techno.
6. Best Book for loving Macbeth in Small Doses: Shakespeare After All
7. Book I Would Not Have Finished Had It Not Been a Classic AND a Book Club Necessity: Fahrenheit 451
8. Book I DID not finish even though it is a classic AND a Book Club Necessity: The Sun Also Rises
9. Best Children’s Book: Ghost by Reynolds
10. Audiobook that Made me Laugh Out Loud While Driving Down the Road: I Capture the Castle
Sorry – no Best Novel of those I read this year. Lots of ALMOSTs, but the endings did not quite live up to the rest of the book (Brit Marie Was Here, Code Name Verity, The Expats, Burial Rites) I’m just beginning Underground Railroad though. That may be The One.
