a lifestyle blog for book lovers

Here’s hoping your weekend forecast isn’t as hot as mine. But just in case you’re also living in a sauna, here are some weekend reads you can enjoy indoors.

My favorite finds from around the web:

People are really unhappy about the Jane Austen quote on the new tenner. I totally get it.

• You need a library card catalog. File under: thoughts I have a hundred times a day.

• Louise Penny: How writing became her solace. I can’t wait for her next book to come out! Counting down the days to August 29 …

• I dressed like my skinny best friend for a week to prove style has no size. This is great on several levels. (Via Mel Joulwan, who shares great links in her own newsletter.)

Favorite instagram:

The final cover proofs arrived for Reading People and all I get to see right now is a photo! But WHAT a photo. (Follow me on instagram @annebogel.)

On the blog:

One year ago: What self-care looks like for me right now.

Two years ago: Everything I need to know about planning my life I learned from ‘The September Issue.’

Three years ago: A peek inside the Jane Austen Festival.

Four years ago: Best book you’ve never heard of on … organizing.

Six years ago: “The currency for the next generation is going to be the capacity to pay attention.”

Have a great weekend!

Just want to pass along that I’m having technical issues with the link “dressing like my skinny best friend for a week.” When I try to read it, a “your iPhone has won an Amazon $1000 gift card” message appears each time. I wish! ?

I couldn’t agree more! I just finished How the Light Gets In this morning and cried a very ugly cry. I am so happy that I followed Anne’s advice and started reading this series–I just love these books! The CBS segment was a great link. Thanks Anne!

I agree! I happened to catch the piece on Louise Penny when it was on. I have read only the first 4 so far and after I saw her story it just made me want to read the rest all the more! I had never heard of her and picked up her books totally on Anne’s recommendation.

I can’t wait for the latest Louise Penny to come out too! And we’re getting a Tim Horton’s in our neighborhood soon, which means I’m going to order a double double in honor of Inspector Gamache, and hopefully drink that while reading the book. (I don’t even like cream and sugar in my coffee, but I have to try this anyway! The things we’ll do for our favorite characters…)

I also can’t wait to see the hard copy of your book. It’s a great read!!! And I’m thrilled to be part of the launch team. I’ll be talking it up a lot!

Love the links this week! I am fascinated by Louise Penny’s personal story and feel like I must learn more. I’ve only read books 1-3 (I’m hoping someone buys me books 4-6 for my birthday!) but I have really enjoyed every one.

  4. I have a mini card catalog (just four drawers) in my house. It’s one of my favorite pieces of furniture and yes, I use it to store wine : ) It also found a spot in my wedding reception as a holder for my guests’ place cards!
