Links and Lipstick

This week on the MMD facebook page, I asked you to help me find some red lipstick. Well, I got my lipstick, but it’s not red!

I struck out at Sephora: I needed some hand-holding for such an important decision (ahem) and I didn’t have much confidence in the salespeople on duty. So yesterday, I headed to a local boutique that has a makeup counter–and importantly, a whiz of a makeup artist who works it.

He’d chosen not to stock many reds for spring, so I chose from an assortment of brights instead. (I’ll get my red, but I’m going to try one of the drugstore options you all shared on Facebook. Thanks again!)

Stop Looking for Mr Darcy: “The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is far more faithful to Austen’s novel than either the internationally famous 1995 BBC television series (starring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth) or the 2005 Focus Features movie (with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen).  In Austen’s novel, Darcy is more absent than present for much of the action.”

Leigh Kramer writes a gutsy piece about singleness here: The Morning After. (Bravery, defined: hitting “publish” on a post like this when your mom reads your blog.)

Grey Gardens can be yours for the summer–for $125,000.00.

On the blog.

I unveiled a new look, and shared the gorgeous photo that inspired it.

Several of you thought I was pulling an early April Fool’s stunt with this one: Maybe I Should Read Less. (I’ve so enjoyed the comments on this post. Thanks for the great conversation here!)

That lipstick looks great! Love your look—your bangs and that lipstick highlight your eyes. I’ve been thinking of making the time to sit down with a professional to update my usual mascara+concealer look 🙂

I LOVE the new lipstick! Ok…and Anne, I must say, I am getting hair envy each time you post a pic of yourself 😉 I am just going to have to copy next haircut…in um…6 months or so when I get around to it?

Thanks also for the links! Have a wonderful weekend!

I don’t know what you’re talking about. You and your bump could NOT be cuter! But then again a new haircut at 6 months postpartum is probably not a terrible idea 🙂

Wow, I was going to take my daughter for a bang trim, but I’m starting to rethink that! I enjoy this blog; it makes me feel young, or at least un-old.
