My favorite finds from around the web:
• Why I read more than one book at a time. “I am a firm believer in reading more than one book at a time. I might change that habit one day, but for now I like the way the ideas and concepts from different authors hang out together in my soul. They trade ideas, contradict one another, see the world from all different corners.”
• Top 6 wines that pair best with your child’s crappy behavior. Got an explosive poopy diaper, banged-up fender, or middle-schooler who needs an attitude adjustment? There’s a wine for that.
• Septembering. “And in some ways, you do love September. You love the idea of September anyway – love it so much that it takes you a while to figure out why you’re a little blue and angsty. Why you’re having a hard time waking up in the mornings and a hard time motivating during the day in spite of the sweeping change in atmosphere and the perfect bite of chill in the air.”
• Why you hate Google’s new logo. “Its old logo’s typeface—reminiscent of literature, newspapers, printing—had a reassuring hint of history …. The new logo retains the rainbow of colors but sheds the grownup curlicues: it now evokes children’s refrigerator magnets, McDonald’s French fries, Comic Sans.”
What I’m reading this week:
• Edenbrooke, which is one of the top 5 books I hear “I can’t believe you haven’t read that!” about.
• 10% Happier by Dan Harris. I’m enjoying this much more than I expected.

So many books, so little time! Edenbrooke is one of those books I’ve had languishing in my TBR pile, too. It’s been a while since so many very different friends of mine have all liked the same book.
Re: the wine list – LOL. I saw that earlier this week, and told my husband we need to add a few to our wine rack. 🙂
I loved 10% Happier! When I read what he wanted to name the book in the intro, I was hooked 🙂 Can’t wait to hear your take on it!
Dan Harris, I love the wittiness of his book. It convinced me to start meditation.
I read Septembering earlier this week and it was a pretty eye-opening post for me. This is my first year having kids in schools and the first year I’ve ever noticed the phenomenon in my life. All week I’ve thought about how it’s okay, it’s just September.
10% Happier was a great book! It really resonated with me. It convinced me to try meditation.
So glad I’m not the only one who hates Google’s new logo! I do like the app icon better now, though.
Edenbrooke is so good! I hope you love it!
I thought it was lots of fun. 🙂
I noticed that in the “Septembering” post, she talks about a light box. Do you use one? Any tips on when/how to use it? I definitely struggle with SAD during winter months when it’s dark driving to and from work. Thanks!
I do: I bought this light box four years ago and it’s still going strong.
