a lifestyle blog for book lovers

Links I love and what’s on my nightstand.

Merry Christmas from Jane!

Favorite finds from around the web:

• George Clooney visits Downton Abbey.

• A definitive ranking of Jane Austen’s male hotties. Love the descriptions on Bertram, Wickham, and Elton.

Notable children’s books of 2014, according to the New York Times. (Most of these weren’t on my radar.)

Penguin series

On my nightstand:

• Bookworm problems: I got this box set for Christmas, and now I’m trying to decide what to read next!

Pies and Prejudice, by Heather Vogel Frederick. Sarah and I are reading The Mother-Daughter Book Club series together. I started book 4 last night.

Chance or the Dance, by Thomas Howard. Ugh. I don’t want to read this right now, but it’s one of the books I resolved to read in 2014 … and I’m running out of time.

On the blog:

• The best Christmas scenes in children’s literature.

• How a photo can save a child’s life.

Take 5 minutes today to think about next Christmas—really!

Have a great weekend!

Oh, I LOVE Thomas Howard! I have almost all his works. I’m sorry you don’t look forward to him. I am a fan girl of his, I guess!

    • Anne says:

It’s not that I’m not looking forward to him, I just don’t want to wait to read the stuff already on my pile! So many books, so little time, as always.

  2. Anne says:

There’s Downton to look forward to! And a Christmas Sherlock? (Right? DH and I were talking about this the other day. A one off to tide us over until another series?)

  3. I’m always on the lookout for more great books to read with my little one, so I’m excited to add so many to our to-read list. I hadn’t heard of the mother-daughter book club before! That’s so awesome! I almost wish my little one was older so we could read those together right now.
