I’m Headed to Blissdom! Here’s What That Means For Me–and You!

Tomorrow I’m headed to Nashville for Blissdom, a blogging conference for women.

I’ve read all about it, got my ticket, my room is booked, my bag is (almost) packed. I’m leaving in the morning.

But I have no idea what I’m getting into.

I started Modern Mrs Darcy on a lark just a year ago. Back then I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a blogging conference, and I certainly didn’t think I’d ever attend one.

But this blogging thing surprised me. It’s been such a wonderful experience–and I didn’t expect that, not to this degree. I’ve loved to write for you here, and I especially love hearing what you have to say. Your comments and messages and stories mean so much to me. I’ve learned so much from the friends I’ve made online.

But there’s so much I don’t know–there’s so much to learn I don’t even know what I don’t know! But I’d love to learn how to be a better blogger, so I can make this blog a better experience for you.

At Blissdom, I’m participating in the writing track, and I’m excited to hear seasoned writers I admire like Jeff Goins and Tsh Oxenreider discuss the craft. I’m looking forward to spending the weekend with 750 (!!) bloggers, and I can’t wait to meet some of my internet friends in real life.

This is a good time to say thank you–because it’s only because of you that this blogging thing is worthwhile!

I’ll be thinking of you the whole time I’m gone. And while I’m having fun (or being completely overwhelmed) in Nashville, I’ll have a fun giveaway for you here on the blog. (Hint: it’s something I’m packing in my suitcase.)

If you’re headed to Blissdom, let me know so I can meet you in Nashville!

I went to Blissdom last year and it was really awesome. I wish I was going again, but with a 3 month old in tow, I just didn’t think it the best idea {hopefully next year}. My biggest piece of advice – be assertive. If there is a blogger you just love, take that step and introduce yourself. You might have to explain who you are {i.e. tell them your twitter handle}, but they will know you. Promise. And I found that a lot of the bigger bloggers {those “famous” gals} are even sweeter in real life then online and truly want to talk with their followers/readers and help you feel comfortable.

You’re going to have a blast. Really, really wish I could meet you there. Here’s to next year!

OH, have FUN!!!!! Enjoy. This sounds really cool. I’d love to attend an event like this sometime. I”m particular interested in how people use blogging to support their families etc. OH, I blog because I LOVE it. It’s a real creative outlet for me. Enjoy your time their and tell us a little bit about it when you get back :) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
